^He meant the opening pitch. I let it slide.
I threw in a few of those, and wondered if the Americans would appreciate them or not. I did say it was my first baseball game!
Nice thread Bets. Must be like being back at Portman Road
Baseball in the USA. Well, my last US residential was Philadelphia, land of the Liberty Bell and the Phillies. Baseball 'tis a family affair, moderately expensive, but a good time had by all.
Stadium is usually quite full. Parking lots full. Sorry no pix. Never bothered bringing a camera. In the US most, if not all team have cheerleaders called mascots. Below is a you tube clip of the philly phanatic.
All in all baseball games are quite enjoyable shows made for family fun. Get there early for practice, the kids'll go down to the fences and the players sign autographs. Usually kid clubs for fun. Lots of food, lots of snacks, set up for wallet emptying with a smile on your face. Never disappointed.
Very good deal when we were in the Philly shipyard for a retrofit - military ID gets you in for a buck. Attended lots of evening games for a buck. Even got a good discount on the beer then.
Very cool Bets.
Interesting to see the East Asian take on the sport and culture.
Cheers.
Sure looks less boring than cricket.
^ hahaha... but Hanwa, this season are pretty much on a par with English cricket!
Soooooo, me being Billy No Mates in Korea... decided to go to the baseball again. Here's a really good intro to a Hanwa Eagles day, the songs, the food and the stadium, etc:

Cycling should be banned!!!
Here are a few pics...
The wife cooked before I went:
Got there early...
& a game happened too...
It didn't start well.
I hope that's fingers of Spam at the top of the grill
&...
The food was good...
At some point, school uniforms were the order of the day...
&, being one of the worse teams in the league, we were scoreless until the bottom of the ninth (I am learning these phrases...):
So, I grabbed a bottle of whiskey on the way home to drown my sorrows... $35 and it's f'kin shite stuff...
The good news is, in proper sport, we are top of the league "I said we are top of the league..."
Never tried Ballantines, would of been no help to you.
Looked a enjoyable evening out, Do you reckon you could pull one of them dancers?
Hmmm, funnily enough I walked past the dancers in the hallway at one point in the evening and gave a big smile to the foreign lady. She had that kinda 'maybe' look on her face as she gave me a shy smile hoping nobody was looking thing going on... So, on a good day, driving my new Ferrari (yet to be bought) past her, perhaps... Only one of them is a good dancer - the one with a dark brown bob; she would be the one to get hold of...
Far left below:
Regarding the whiskey - tastes like Bells to me; horrible...
In case anybody is on the slightest bit interested... here is the table...
I will now, for the sake of MeOrfJack, attempt to fully qualify the question stated in three dozen and 6 (it is now my raison d'tre to alle until the end of the season), &, I state it that way in case Boo of the Missus reads this thread...
Great thread Boo, Lets see if you can get up the league
^ I will try!
A few more pics from yesterday:
& who is that handsome bastard in his Hanwa Eagles T-shirt & Hanwa Eagles team shirt over the top??? He could do with losing 5kgs if he's gonna get hold of those dancers!
This week, I got there about an hour before the start to see what was going on in the build up:
I think next week, I'm gonna sit right in front of the stage!
(Just need to learn some of the songs and dance routines...)
I cut together a couple of short videos... The crowd was quite small this week 65% capacity maybe? But, the atmosphere was still quite good.
Another Saturday, another trip to the NY Yankees...
A typhoon warning was out today, so a small crown, some rain and wind, but nothing much. But, I did encourage a few workmates this time, and we sat in more central seats...
&, a victory...
