Real men don't put their beers down until they're finished (and hold two at once).

There were also soju bombers going down and then at one point someone decided sniffing vodka would be a good idea. Yeah it wasn't.

    It was a timely rewatching!

And yeah that whole ranking thing is a bit of a farce innit. Still it is what it is I suppose and Wales have the #1 ranking, that can’t be argued.

    England played well today: 57-15.

Clearly Ireland weren't match fit, first game in a while, so probably makes England looks better than we are, but we look powerful and skilful - some New Zealand/Australia type tries...

Up in Edinburgh to watch Scotland scrape past France, I'm not confident we will even get out our group anymore. We seem to have gone backwards last 12 months bar the second half against England in the 6N.

I'm sure a wander down to the Pubic Triangle will cheer you up.

Beating France is a start for Scotland.

Scotland's WC group is by far the easiest group, especially if Ireland's form doesn't pick up (which I reckon it will), so you should get through ok.

Rugby World Cup: They're not all called 'haka' — the differences between Pacific war dances

    Rugby World Cup 2019-11466642-3x2-940x627-jpg
Only the New Zealand team performs the 'haka' — the Samoan team performs the Siva Tau, Tonga the Sipi Tau, and Fiji the Cibi.

When actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson performed a war dance in the movie Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, he was paying homage to his Samoan roots.

    Key points:

    • The best known war dance is arguably the New Zealand haka
    • Samoa's team performs the Siva Tau, Tonga the Sipi Tau, and Fiji the Cibi
    • War dances are said to evoke the spirit of the ancestors and prepare the players mentally

So when people incorrectly referred to the dance as "haka", made famous by the New Zealand All Blacks, the highest-paid actor on Forbes' 2019 list was quick to set the record straight.

"It's not a haka but a Siva Tau," Mr Johnson told American movie ticketer Fandango in an interview earlier this year.
"The Siva Tau in Samoa is the Samoan version, if you will, of New Zealand's haka but they are two distinct experiences."

And the fans from the Northern Hemisphere only get their panties in a twist over the haka.

Some RWC stats from Australian site The Roar

If we compare match-ups between Rugby Championship teams and their Six Nations counterparts at the World Cup, the results are overwhelmingly in the former’s favour, with 54 wins to 16. Of the 24 head-to-head records, the north leads on only two counts – England and Wales against Argentina.

New Zealand have won 22 of 24 encounters with Six Nations teams, South Africa eight of nine, Australia 14 of 20 and Argentina eight of 15. Meanwhile, England have managed to win six of their 16 clashes with Rugby Championship teams, France four of 13, Wales three of 12, Ireland two of 10, Italy one of eight and Scotland none of 11.

Ireland have never reached the semi-finals, nor won a single play-off game at the tournament, having lost six quarter-finals and a repechage play-off in 1999.

Tonga will have the most foreign-born players in their squad at this year’s World Cup with 17, followed by Japan and Samoa (16), Scotland (14) and Australia (12). Only the South Americans – Argentina and Uruguay – are 100% home-grown.

New Zealand will be by far the main supplier, with a total of 43 Kiwis lining up for other national teams.

Interesting birth places include Algeria, Azerbaijan, Korea, New Guinea and Germany.

Namibia have all the negative records with 19 straight losses, three last-place finishes, and the biggest defeat ever – 142-0 vs Australia in 2003.

Interesting quick profile here on England utility and World Cup squad member Piers Francis: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/new...ectid=12266875

Always thought he was a pretty good player and I've always admired guys like him and James Haskell who take a punt and try their hand in the Southern Hemisphere (losing money to do so in the latter case).

I believe Channel 5 has free to watch rights but I can't find any info on that. I also signed up, using a free VPN, to watch ITV.com. Dunno how I'll get on.
