    Womens World Cup 2019

Starts tomorrow, in France; and a great alternative to the Denmark v Ireland game tomorrow night and a chance for those of us who support the lesser of the mens teams to get behind our Nations ladies for a Month of late night soccer and booze benders and maybe bask in a bit of glory

    The groups..

I see England are rated in the top four of the womens game too

So at 7/1, that means if you put $100 on them you'd lose $100

Seriously though, as someone who casually follows sports betting (*cough*) it's a well documented fact that Bookies often make England athletes and teams what's known as false favourites. Using this case as an example, it means they should be perhaps 15/1 or 20/1 shots but if they posted those odds everyone would know they're no chance. But by posting them up at 7's, mug punters think the Bookies are afraid to take them on so they must be a good chance and the money comes pouring in for them from patriotic punters. See where they finish, see what odds the teams that finish in front if them opened at, and this will all make sense.

Thailand have the 3 times winning USA and a strong Sweden team in their group.

Not the best looking team either I'd bet..

Which player is going to surprise everyone at the World Cup?
Suchawadee Nildhamrong (known as Miranda Nild in the US where she plays). The midfielder, who has a Thai father and an American mother, was born and raised in the US. The University of California player burst onto the international stage with Thailand in 2017 and shone brightly at the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. Strong and skilful, the 22-year-old is one of a few Thai players whose size is not at a disadvantage.

^^ I have noticed England's odds being too short on mamy occasions. Although even at odds of 500-1 i still wouldn't have won anything

Bookires balance their books though so mostly the money is down on England, in a Country where there are as many bookies as 7/11s here

A lot of the attention will focus on the forward Gaëlle Enganamouit when the World Cup kicks off. A lanky and astute attacker, she turns 27 the day before Cameroon’s group opener against Canada in Montpellier on 10 June. She scored three goals in Canada 2015 and was voted the African women’s footballer of the year after clinching the Golden Boot in Sweden with her club side Avaldsnes. Despite having had her fair share of injuries and the fact that she is currently without a club after departing Málaga in April, the Yaoundé native is poised for a starring role in France.

What more is there to write about Sam Kerr? One of the undisputed stars of the women’s game, Kerr is the all-time leading goalscorer in both the NWSL and the W-League, and arrives in France coming off four consecutive domestic Golden Boot awards – and all this at just 25 years old. Overlooked for Fifa’s major individual honours – due perhaps to previous criticism of the governing body – but a star-turn in France and a move to one of Europe’s top clubs post-World Cup could change that

    Did you know?
The veteran Lisa De Vanna could join an elite club by scoring at a fourth World Cup – something that seemed unlikely when the mercurial but tempestuous star was described by a former coach ahead of her first World Cup as “high maintenance”, “a brat” and possessing mood swings “like the stock market crash of 1987”.

I'm a gambler not a Bookie, and to take a bet like that I'd have to be taking bets on other teams too obviously.

I do most of my business on Betfair UK where I'm betting against real Bookies and hopefully, people who think they know enough to start using the Lay column. It's amazing how often its possible to put a bet out there at way over the odds, and someone who really doesn't understand what they're doing covers it. Try it, if you want 10's or 20's on this (and think England can win obviously, it's complete insanity having money on anything because of the price) just dangle a stake on there and see if some muppet covers it.

My days of gambling.are over. There's only one winner and its not the punter.
Fuck all that heartbreak of injury time equalisers, penalty shootouts, horses falling at the last fence when 20 lengths clear, the neck and neck photo finishes and greyhounds stopping for a shit

That's what you and about 98% of others get for betting on Soccer and Horse/Dog Racing. They're 2 sports I would not touch with a ten foot pole unless it was just something like $10 for fun. Soccer is far too unpredictable (though the odds rarely reflect that) and unless you know someone really well on the inside with racing (trainers, jockeys, owners, bent stewards, etc) you're just another mug financing the Bookies latest Bentley.

USA vs Thailand, still 1st half ...

    'The USA are ruthless'

    USA 3-0 Thailand

The USA are ruthless. They want to win and dominate, which they are doing. There will be no question of sitting on three goals.

We will see lots of this. Unlike the mens game there are far to few womens teams competitive. A women's world cup is premature. FIFA and National footbal organization will have to invest in developing their national teams. So far the effort has been pityfull.

^I don't bet on Soccer, period. Can't even watch it, do the women roll around on the ground for 3 minutes with their hands over their eyes if they get grazed by a blade of grass like the men do too?

The Thai GK is 5 foot 5. In an 11 a side goal! Absolutely no chance.
