Despite looking fucked recently, 3rd place was well within our grasp in recent weeks with that first 11. Just like I said.

We were always gonna be ok under Ole even during the dark days in the first half of the season when we only had 1 fit midfielder. Just like I said.

It's been a pleasure ladies and remember:

    Hal knows.

Lets bag that UEFA Cup now.

Manchester United make six changes from the side which beat Lask as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer goes pretty much full strength. Cup specialist Sergio Romero remains in goal as Wan-Bissaka, Pogba, Greenwood, Martial, Fernandes and Rashford all return.
FC Copenhagen make just two changes, with ex-United tight-back Guillermo Varela starting.
Man Utd XI: Romero; Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Williams; Pogba, Fred; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial. Subs: De Gea, Fosu-Mensah, Lindelof, Mengi, Matic, McTominay, Pereira, Chong, James, Lingard, Mata, Ighalo.
FC Copenhagen XI: Johnsson; Varela, Nelsson, Bjelland, Boilesen; Pep Biel, Stage, Zeca; Daramy, Wind, Falk. Subs: Andersen, Grytebust, Bengtsson, Papagiannopoulos, Bartolec, Oviedo, Mudrazija, Kaufmann, Bøving, Hjælmhof.

How many penalties will the rags get tonight?

Yeah, lucky. Their keeper makes a record number of saves, we hit the post twice and have 2 goals ruled out cos of VAR before getting a perfectly deserved penalty.

    You fucking cock.

I see Hargreaves, Van Persie and Scholes raving about Martial tonight as well and what a player Solskjaer has turned him into.

Just like Hal said. As usual.

    Hal knows.

    Inter looking good.

    Would make a great final.

Though watching Dill's kinda guy Lukaku against the Utd defense would be a bit twitchy.

And 'goals' being disallowed because they are clearly not scored in accordance with the rules of the game is hardly bad luck.

To suggest they are shows how farcically one-eyed you are.

Looked like about 6 Merchandise United players offside in the build up to the goal.

I think they realised that it would have been a bit obvious to the watching viewers, so chose not to show any of the calculations used during their superfluous "check".

To put things in perspective, Copenhagen's record signing cost 4.5 million quid.

Which is why Copenhagen managed the grand total of, err, 0 shots on target.

Yet when we benefit from VAR, this apparently isn't in accordance with the rules of the game.

...and they hadn't conceded more than 1 goal in 30 previous European games. Seven more games than the 2nd best on the list: a Milan side of the early 90s.

Sevilla or Wolves might be too much. I've been saying it for weeks, but some of our players look absolutely fucked. Started off poorly last night and got better as the game went on though, so maybe there's a bit left in the tank.

Good football viewing over the next couple of weeks or so either way.

While Utd's season would undoubtedly have been better with Lukaku up front as a CF, interesting to see the minutes per goal stats of him and the Utd forwards.

Given that he has scored 33 goals thus far.

Lukaku, 33 goals, 113 minutes per goal. (115 minutes if he plays 90 mins in the final without scoring - unlikely )
Greenwood, 17 goals, 114 minutes per goal.

Yeah, give em time etc, fair enough, but if Lukaku gets the chances we had the other night, Inter will win comfortably on Friday. That Martinez looked shit hot too.

There's also the issue that Lukaku looks about 2 stone lighter these days instead of having the appearance of an 18 stone nightclub bouncer as he did in his final season at United.

He's not gonna struggle down the disco.

(apologies if that pic turns into a, I don't know, carrot.)

    Ooops.

Manchester United say captain Harry Maguire is "fully cooperating" with Greek authorities after reports he was arrested on the island of Mykonos.

Local media are reporting the England footballer, 27, was arrested following an alleged fight on Thursday night.

Two other Britons were also detained, according to the local reports.

Manchester United’s captain, Harry Maguire, is expected to be charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly “hit” a police officer and was arrested following an altercation on Thursday evening in Mykonos. The England defender spent the night in police custody and is to face charges on the neighbouring island of Syros – the administrative centre for the region.

Maguire was with friends in a bar on the Greek island when the incident occurred and the 27-year-old subsequently detained along with two friends and taken to a local police station for questioning.

“The soccer player was verbally abusive to an officer and then hit him. The three were resisting when brought to the Mykonos police station,” said a police official, who added Maguire and his friends will be taken by boat to Syros to face charges brought by a public prosecutor. Greek media reported that Maguire had got into “a very heated altercation” with other English holidaymakers on the party island late on Thursday. When policemen, subsequently called to the scene, attempted to break up the midnight brawl, they were verbally abused.

“There were several policemen there. At some point, one of the three members of the group – they were aged 27, 28, and 29 – threw a swing at one of the policemen and a fight ensued,” added police spokesperson Petros Vassilakis. “All of the three were arrested but during the effort to do so, the other two, including the football player, got violent also. They threw down at least two policemen, hit them with their fists and kicked them.

“I can’t tell you what they were telling us,” he added. “All English swear words against the authorities and against the work of the police. All three, including the football player, are being held in custody, locked up in Mykonos cell. They will appear before a state prosecutor on the island of Syros later today to be charged with aggravated assault.”

That's a fokin' bit more like it.

    Well done Hazza.

About time someone in the team showed a bit of fight.

Was it the FA Cup Final '99 that the captain of Man Utd almost missed due to being locked up in the Cling-Clong?

So he got bailed and has to go back to Mykonos to say sorry and then he can go home.

Some reports that he tried to bribe the coppers as well. Whether that's a charge or not I dunno.
