Anyone watched "The Damned United"?
The Damned United is a 2009 British sports drama film directed by Tom Hooper and adapted by Peter Morgan from David Peace's bestselling novel The Damned Utd, a largely fictional book based on the author's interpretation of Brian Clough's ill-fated tenure as football manager of Leeds United in 1974.
It's good. Was on the BBC yesterday.
The clubs are more worried about the loss of TV revenue for not completing the season.
Premier League Keen to Complete Season & Avoid Losing £750m in TV Revenue
Money could worryingly have a role to play in the time frame for resuming the suspended Premier League season, amid reports that the league faces breaching a £3bn broadcasting contract if games are not complete by 31 July.
The Premier League is currently on hold until following positive COVID-19 tests at Arsenal and Chelsea and will resume no earlier than 4 April. But with the coronavirus crisis in the UK alone widely expected to get worse before it gets better, restarting football by then already seems unlikely.

Abandoning the season 2/3 of the way through is an utterly stupid approach. Those responsible for such a decision could be sued out of existence.
Finish the season and then in January play half a season with the clubs seeded and playing each other once only. For example if you have to play Liverpool away then that should be weighted by getting to play, say, Bournemouth at home. Abandon all domestic cup competitions until 2021/2.
Hopefully that would be practical within the time frame, with the season restarting around mid July.
This should be done in coordinated fashion with the rest of Europe, and would lead to well rested players prior to Euro 2021.
For what? Failing to put the players and the fans in harms way?
You talk about finishing one aborted season that is already going to be open to legal penalties when contracts end, and then playing an "utterly stupid" and poorly contrived mickey mouse fantasy league or something.
What's the fucking point of that? You're basically fucking up two seasons instead of one.
Another consideration as several high profile players will be out of contract soon.
Away the Magpies! Beheading entertainment at half time:smileylaughing:
Cyrille finally gets a Premier League team to support, similar strip to west Brom as well:)
A consortium backed heavily by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund looks close to securing a $300 million deal for the Premier League club
A Saudi Arabian backed consortium now looks all but certain to be the new owners of Newcastle United. Although the coronavirus pandemic has currently brought football to a standstill, the money men that run things are still buzzing and whirring behind the scenes. And after months of speculation, it appears that Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, could be about to make a rather large play in the global game. Along with a consortium of businessmen and women, the Private Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) is rumoured to be about to purchase the Premier League football club, Newcastle United.
Yeah, if only this pesky virus could have 'kicked off' in August, eh?
Nothing's going to be kicking off in June to complete the 19/20 season. It's just pie in the sky to think it is.
Nobody signed up for half a season last summer.
Doing so in January gives everyone advance notice. This season has to be completed.
The season won't be completed, too many factors against it happening.
On a positive note, the silverware will stay at the Etihad for another year:bananaman:
^^Got a better solution?
(I won’t bother even asking you chitty...it’s one for the adults)
I see Arsenal’s staff have accepted a 12.5 percent cut based on completing this season.
Bit different from Italy where teams are sacrificing 100%, eh?
But it IS based on completing the season, and realistically that aint gonna happen by the end of June as some are dreaming.
So near yet so far Ciz:smileylaughing:
It has to be frozen imho. The Summer transfer window opens in June.
I think the fairest way would be to award Liverpool the league, Leicester and Chelsea Champs League spots and Man U the cheating Arabs spot.:)
Also promote Leeds and Albion and the third placed team there and dump Villa,, Norwich and whoever else it was and move on to next season.
Other talk was about playoffs for spots which is ridiculous imo.
:smileylaughing:
FOD
You've takin' up stand up comedy :smileylaughing:
Newcastle have unveiled their 2020/2021 home kit.
"Wear it to the match. Wear it to the pub. Oh no, wait".

I tagree with Cy. The season should be completed, but in the presence of supporters. It’s the only reason the professional game exists. Behind closed doors is the worst possible scenario.
I note that corrupt intranational groups like FIFA and UEFA are stirring the pot over contractual obligations.
Simple. Maintain the status quo until the season is over. Whenever that might be.
The new season to commence two weeks after the last season finishes, whenever that might be.
Null and Void the entire thing.
Start next season in August as usual, using the seeded teams from last season for the European competitions. Contracts and transfer window stay unchanged.
It's unlucky for those that were on for winning the league, but not half as unfair as teams being relegated without playing the final 9/10 games, just because they are in the relegation places 3/4s of the way through the season.
It's the only logical way forward now...
