What staggers me is how long they've let the defensive situation drift. Anyway Flintoff should bring some levity to proceedings

Current rumours doing the rounds in the press suggest that Matthijs De Ligt has chosen the mighty Manchester United ahead of Barcelona as he moves on from Ajax.

What a signing that would be.

I think the Spanish tax regime is better though.

Fuck knows how much Pogba is going to end up costing the Moaners if he does a Bosman.

With Leepool and AbuCiteh so far ahead i imagine Merchandise & Ski are going to splash some serious cash this window. Arse of course won't and will just wait for the next crop to leave on a free and still be scratching their heads as to why they can't defend when the window closes.

Haway the lads when the boat comes in etc. etc.

Picture Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo stumbling down the Diamond Strip pissed up and looking for a fight.

Mike Ashley has agreed to sell Newcastle United to Abu Dhabi’s billionaire Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan for 350 million pounds ($445.24 million), the Sun and Reuters reported late on Sunday.

The contracts between Ashley and Sheikh Khaled have been signed and submitted to the Premier League, according to the report.

Ashley, who bought a controlling stake in the Premier League club in 2007, has in the past tried to sell the club.

Ashley, who owns British sportswear retailer Sports Direct International Plc said last October that he had not received any acceptable offers for Newcastle, a year after he officially put the club up for sale, but told Sky News in December that talks on a deal had made promising progress.

Any potential buyer of the club must be able to provide transfer funds, he had said at the time.

Sheikh Khaled, the cousin of Manchester City owner and Arab billionaire Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, previously failed in his bid to buy Liverpool Football Club for 2 billion pounds last year, the Daily Mail has previously reported.

Sheikh Khaled is also the founder of Bin Zayed Group, a leading conglomerate with diverse business interests in the local and international markets.

Newcastle United, the Premier League and the Bin Zayed Group did not immediately respond to Reuters’ requests for comments.

Maybe there is a God after all....

Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil, 30, defensive compatriot Shkodran Mustafi, 27, and Armenia midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 30, could be among the casualties as Arsenal look to fund a summer rebuild. They are also looking to clear out anyone who's name is near impossible to pronounce.

Hmmm there is a certain symmetry I haven't seen before.

E.g. Newcastle Burnley back to back first two weeks, then Burnley Newcastle back to back in Feb.

Liverpool Tiny Totts back to back in August, then Tiny Totts Liverpool back to back at the end of April.

Sheff. Utd Palace October/Palace Sheff. Utd January.

    Wolves/Leicester

    Soton/Norwich the same.

Anyone else have this sort of pattern?

Chelski are doing well - cashed up

Offloaded Hazard for what could be £150M, Sarri is on the way out which saves his wages and they get £5M compo and they can't spend the money for two years because of a transfer ban. Still with all this uncertainty its nice that Roman is still consistently getting through managers.

Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle for their manager Maurizio Sarri to join Serie A champions Juventus.

An agreement was reached late on Thursday evening after talks between senior officials. A deal could be completed as early as Friday.

It is understood a compensation fee in excess of £5m has been agreed.

Sarri arrived from Napoli in July 2018 and led the Blues to third place in the Premier League and won the Europa League in his one season in charge.

Despite signing a three-year deal last July, he will become the ninth full-time manager to leave the club under Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

Throughout the 60-year-old Italian's time at Stamford Bridge there was repeated speculation about his position, with Chelsea fans expressing their discontent at tactics and team selections.

One of the low points came in February when goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga challenged his authority by refusing to be substituted in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley, shortly before Chelsea were beaten in a penalty shootout by Manchester City.

But Sarri did manage to win his first ever trophy as manager with a 4-1 victory over Arsenal in May in the Europa League final, and after the match said "he deserved" to stay with the club.

Chelsea are currently unable to sign any players after they were banned for two transfer windows by Fifa - a decision they are appealing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Their star player Eden Hazard has joined Real Madrid for a fee that could exceed £150m.

Significantly, Chelsea have not asked for the suspension to be put on hold until a final decision is reached. It means their only new arrival might be USA forward Christian Pulisic, a £58m signing from Borussia Dortmund in January, who spent the remainder of the campaign on loan in Germany.

Juventus are managerless after Massimiliano Allegri left at the end of last season, having won the league title in each of his five seasons since taking charge in 2014.

Didn't they go from top of the league to bottom in one day at the start of a season not long ago?

Wolves at 12-1 for a top four finish looks like a reasonable bet.

Man City to win the Quadruple in 2019/2020 100/1 Bet365
Man City to go unbeaten in the 2019/20 Premier League season 50/1 Bet365
Man City to win the 2019/2020 Premier League 4/6 888Sport

Manchester City 100/1 for 2020 Quadruple After Treble Success

Manchester City’s brilliant 2018/19 campaign ended perfectly on Saturday 18 May when the north-west football giants were able to claim the FA Cup and thus become the first English club to land the domestic treble.
It was largely plain sailing against a Watford side who fashioned a couple of early chances but had no answer to the Citizens’ wave of attacks after falling behind and the game was won by a thumping 6-0 scoreline.
The FA Cup success is added to the EFL Cup and Premier League triumphs that were enjoyed previously, with Pep Guardiola continuing to establish a legacy in England that could yet see Manchester City land an unprecedented quadruple.
Bookmakers not convinced about a City quad

Some might say that Manchester City are inching close to landing the quadruple although Bet365 are offering 100/1 that the champions of England once again land a domestic treble come the end of the 2019/20 season and also lift the European Cup.
There will be plenty of punters who have a nibble at three-figure odds considering that only a small stake is required for a hefty return. It’s also the sort of bet that provides an immediate interest in the 2019/20 season and it’s worth noting that City were trading at a similar price twelve months ago before getting as short as 4/1.
Guardiola has previously expressed doubts over whether any club can land a quadruple considering that it involves competing on several fronts and having a congested fixture schedule, although the bottom line is that the EFL Cup final is played as early as February and City demonstrated that this competition can be won with squad players.
We’re likely to see those odds of 100/1 with Bet365 start to come tumbling down and perhaps this will happen before a ball is even kicked. Guardiola might further strengthen his squad and we’re also likely to see a fit Kevin de Bruyne from the very start of the season.
Can Manchester City Finally Conquer Europe?

Pep likes to sarcastically refer to himself as a “European failure” and it’s true that City have fallen short in the Champions League during the three seasons that he’s been in charge at the Etihad Stadium.
The Spaniard’s first term at Manchester City was one of adjustment and a porous defence led to a last sixteen European Cup exit at the hands of a similarly high-scoring Monaco team.
During the 2017/18 campaign, the Citizens were hot favourites to overcome a Liverpool team in the quarter finals of the Champions League, especially as the former were in cruise control at the top of the Premier League. However, they were blown away at Anfield and failed to recover in the second leg.
This season just gone, City were overwhelming favourites to triumph over Tottenham although an insipid first leg performance at White Hart Lane was followed by a helter-skelter second leg encounter at the Etihad saw Spurs go through on away goals, thus ending the European Cup and quadruple dream in one foul swoop.
Perhaps any quadruple aims will be eschewed in favour of a game plan which means a Champions League win at all costs. Real Madrid’s reign in Europe is over, Barcelona continue to look vulnerable on the continent and City have the track record in England to feel confident against any domestic rivals.
Will City Go Unbeaten in the Premier League?

If you’re not sure about the 100/1 that Manchester City win the hallowed quadruple next season, then there are plenty of other betting possibilities that might float your bet. How about the 50/1 with Bet365 that Pep Guardiola’s side go unbeaten in the Premier League during the 2019/20 campaign?
Admittedly, the Citizens lost four times in the top flight last season. However, three of their defeats occurred within the space of eighteen days. Chelsea were the first side to conquer them in December before Crystal Palace and Leicester enjoyed festive wins over the champions.
Aside from that, Newcastle were the only other team to conquer the City machine, although no club was able to land a glove on Guardiola’s men for the remaining months of the season and they finished the season with fourteen consecutive victories to see off the challenge of Liverpool.
It’s also worth noting that City only lost two Premier League matches during the 2017/18 campaign, with Liverpool triumphing 4-3 at Anfield before an incomprehensible 3-2 victory for Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium. If the champions are wearing that cloak of invincibility, we could see a new team of “Invincibles”.
Manchester City 4/6 to Win 2019/20 Premier League

Manchester City will be bidding for a third consecutive Premier League title next season and they’re clearly going to be the team to beat. Some might consider them a good accumulator pick at odds of 4/6 with 888Sport considering that they’ve demonstrated title credentials over two seasons with a similar squad of players each time.
Liverpool are regarded as the most viable challengers after the Merseyside team enjoyed an outstanding domestic campaign of their own, with Jurgen Klopp’s side amassing an impressive 97 points from thirty-eight matches played and there’s plenty to suggest there will be more of the same from the Reds this term.
Liverpool are trading at 11/4 with BetHard to win the title although there’s that seed of doubt considering that they’ve not won the league since 1990 and, even if the Reds got themselves into the driving seat, would we see Klopp’s men hold their nerve and get the job done come May?
It’s hard to imagine the winner coming from outside the “Big Two” next season, with Tottenham Hotspur trading at 11/1 with MoPlay and they fell well short of the required standard last season after matching City and Liverpool during the early parts of the campaign.
Manchester United are a 16/1 shot with 888Sport although the team appears to be in urgent need of surgery, while Arsenal and Chelsea are trading around 20/1 with SportNation and the best either team might get is the chance to land a top four spot well behind the eventual champions.
City 7/2 For Another FA Cup Success

Manchester City thrashed Watford in the FA Cup final after a previous Wembley win over Brighton in the semi-finals where they didn’t have to get out of second gear in order to land a victory.
Against the Hornets, players such as Riyad Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus and Vincent Kompany were given the nod despite all three being substitute material for much of the season, with Guardiola having deployed fringe players in previous rounds of the competition.
While it’s fair to say that City had an easy route through to the FA Cup final before winning it, they did have to come from two goals down at Swansea and it was on that occasion where the manager was able to call upon Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling who were on the bench at kick-off.
Odds of 7/2 with Paddy Power that Manchester City retain the FA Cup seem perfectly fair considering that Liverpool didn’t seem to have an appetite for the competition last season and a seriously under-strength team were beaten by Wolves at the third round stage of the competition.
Similarly, Tottenham are likely to consider the competition as a low priority as they aim to become Premier League title challengers, while Manchester United seem badly off the pace and perhaps a team like Arsenal are the value to win the competition at 11/1 with Paddy Power However, it’s City who are the side to beat once again.
Will Manchester City Oblige in the EFL Cup at 4/1?

We know that the team Guardiola sends out in the third round of the EFL Cup is going to be virtually unrecognisable to the one that was sent out in the Premier League game before that.
However, Manchester City were able to win 3-0 at Oxford at the third round stage last season before comfortably beating Fulham. A largely reserve team then drew away to Leicester before coming through on penalties and it was another shoot-out win over Chelsea in the final that saw them lift this trophy.
Now Guardiola is clearly a world-class manager although penalty shootouts are largely a lottery and perhaps the Citizens will come out on the wrong side of one next season, whether this be in the EFL Cup, FA Cup or Champions League.
Even so, some will think 4/1 with Bet365 is a chunky price about a team who will have a squad bulging with excellent players, with the manager likely to make new recruits this summer to cover for the departing Vincent Kompany, while it appears that Benjamin Mendy’s long-standing injury problems will probably lead to a new left-back arriving.
Liverpool have demonstrated that they are a class cup team when it comes to Champions League football and the Reds are a 7/1 poke to lift the first silverware of the season if you don’t count the season curtain-raiser that is the Community Shield.
Silva, Sterling and De Bruyne Set to Spearhead City’s Season

The 2018/19 season truly announced Raheem Sterling as a world-class player, with the 24-year-old scoring a sum total of thirty-one goals in fifty-nine appearances. The forward scored seventeen times in the Premier League and made ten assists, with further improvement on the cards.
Similarly, Bernardo Silva emerged from the shadows to become a key player for the Citizens and the Portuguese could eventually become a City legend due to the trust that Guardiola places in him. He’s made the right midfield position his own and scored numerous important goals to fuel the team’s success.
The third player worth mentioning is Kevin de Bruyne who was limited to just eleven Premier League starts this term along with a further eight substitute appearances. The 27-year-old will now enjoy a restful summer before returning to demonstrate that he’s the midfield powerhouse of this Manchester City team and it will feel as though they have a new player next term.

100 instead of 180-1, fvck it.
