I know that all these drivers in the modern era do not possess the car control skills that drivers like Senna, Prost, Mansel etc had to have. Today electronics help to drive the car. Hamilton has had top equipment his entire career and when he has a fast team mate his vulnerability shows. I have been a fan of F1 since I was a child and have attended a few races in my day as well. I know what I am talking about fan boy.

Generally agree. As in some other sports, to gain an accurate comparison have to account for modern vs historical achievements.

You haven't got a fucking clue snubby, what are you on about.

Ron Dennis knew Hamilton would be the best in the world when he started financing his career at the age of 13.

Up to that point, Hammy's dad was working three jobs to pay for his driving.

He's been top of the pile in every format in which he's raced.

You're just a bitter old harpy who is upset because he keeps ripping the piss, you pathetic ferrari fanboy.

I know his little heartwarming story Harry. Schumacher in his prime would have ran rings around him as would have Senna, Prost , Mansell and a host of others. But Hamilton in a Red Bull and you would never hear a peep from him again.

Christ Princess, really coming from a country that invented racing where you only have to steer one way - you keep demonstrating you are complete muppet. I'm no huge Hamilton fan and think many of the modern drivers in the last 15 or so years are not really a patch on the skill and courage the older ones had with less driver aids but your statement is plain stupid.

Honesty is a beautiful thing, except we both know you couldn't drink 12 pints or pull the skin off custard.

Well that's bollocks as well, Schumacher was the flat track bully in a fast car and even then, one of his championships he won by cheating, and he was stripped of another because they actually couldn't award it to Ferrari without looking like complete c u n t s. Although they would have done it if they could, such is their obsession with keeping Ferrari happy no matter how shit they are.

Prost only won because they changed the fucking rules to suit Renault to stop Williams winning it with the Cosworth all the time. And he ended up winning it in... a Williams.

And Mansell was a Williams driver when they had the best car.

Senna was a nutter who could only do it in a fast car, too.

If today’s F1 cars are so easy to drive, how come your Ferrari hero Vettel keeps making so many mistakes?

How come Hamilton was able to pass Bottas yesterday with so many electronic aids for drivers?

That's more complexity that snubby can handle sober, let alone pissed.

He might start banging on about his imaginary Tesla when he reads that.

It seems Ferrari might be nicking Mercedes spoiler and wing designs, as it's one of the areas where they think they lose time on corners.

They have very different aero strategies. One is centre based, the other is outer edge based can't remember which is which. So you can't put a Mercedes wing on a Ferrari

    Why not? Theirs isn't working.

As the pictures show, the Mercedes front spoiler is an efficient means of pushing air over the tyres, increasing downforce, and Ferrari are likely to copy it as they simply can't match the Merc round corners. That's where they are losing time.

After day one, a new Ferrari "aero package" (surprise surprise) has put them in front of Mercedes after FP2.

FP3 starts in an hour or so.

The highlight so far is a Williams hitting a drain cover that Leclerc displaced - and then the Hiab that collected it hitting a bridge and dumping oil all over it.

Did you do maths at school Boo?

Blistering lap from Hammy in Q3 to put him on pole; Mad Max in 2nd ahead of Vettel and Bottas.

I think I heard Leclerc put it in the wall in Q2 and starts from the pits.

    1. Bottas
    2. Hamilton
    3. Vettel
    4. Mad Max

Mercedes didn't do Hammy any favours there, I think he'll be a bit pissed off.
