    Winter Olympics - 2018

Not that I give much of a toss.

But I did find this amusing.

South Korea: 280-strong N.Korean delegation arrives in S.Korea for Winter Olympics

BTW ... North Korean delegation including a 229-member cheerleading squad arrived at Inje in Gangwon

North Korea's 229-woman cheer squad has crossed the border into South Korea one day before the start of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

    Key points:
    • The cheering squad has arrived in South Korea for the first time in 13 years
    • The squad has many fans in South Korea and Japan, particularly among young men
    • A cruise ship carrying an orchestra from North Korea was met with protesters

The women, wearing red coats with black fur collars and matching fur hats, received a celebrity welcome as they streamed off their
buses and disappeared into their hotel at a South Korean race track resort.

The squad, which reportedly features women chosen for their youth, good looks and enthusiasm, has been allowed to root for the
North's much smaller contingent of athletes — only about 22 are competing — as part of a last-minute arrangement between Pyongyang and Seoul.

It's the first time a cheering squad from the North has come in 13 years.

Oh ... found the dedicated clip ...

Feel free to add content as the Games approach.

^ Hey ... I never considered that Thailand would be able to qualify any athletes for a Winter Games.

    However ...

It's a little difficult to nail any concise article on the Thai Winter Olympic Team ...

Three young Thais practice cross-country skiing in Higashikawa, Hokkaido, on March 5, 2015.
The town has launched a training programme for cross-country skiers from snowless countries to enhance
its name recognition overseas. (Kyodo photo)

SAPPORO - Three young athletes from Thailand are practicing cross-country skiing in the town of Higashikawa in Japan's
northernmost main island of Hokkaido, hoping to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea.

If anyone is interested to see if the lights go out again, the opening ceremony is at 11am GMT/6pm Thailand.

Coverage is listed as being on Workpoint TV whatever the fuck that is.

BBC talking up the Brit teams medal chances.

So they can knock them down when they return empty handed. Typical.

Curling especially the women always good for a medal, do we actually participate in much else at the Winter Olympics to anything resembling medal standard?

Bobsleigh, skeleton and curling are the only ones I can remember, from an irregular history.

Thailand have 4 competitors in the Winter games. Two alpine skiing and 2 in cross country (brother and sister)

All four have 1 foreign parent, Italian or Swiss.

I would imagine that part of the negotiations included SK agreeing not to support any defections.
Did you notice the way the ladies didn't look around, just walking facing slightly downwards, even when going past shops that may have been interesting to get just a peek at?

    You sure?

The violinist Vanessa-Mae, who made her Olympic debut in Sochi this year at the age of 35, has been banned from competitive skiing for four years for fixing races.
The FIS said that without the manipulation she “would not have achieved the necessary FIS point performance level to be eligible to participate in the Olympic Winter Games”.

Watching the opening ceremony now ... call me a cynic, but boring as bat shit thus far.

Edit:- still boring ... looking like a mix between N Korea fascism and K-Pop ... sigh

Edit 2:- There are 8 boring F***s walking the S Korean Flag around the Stadium.
They introduced a fat f*** as an Olympic champion.
Last time I looked ... the Marathon was a summer Olympic sport ... as was the majority
of the other Winter Olympic flag bearers.

S Korea ... lift your game ... BS thus far.

Edit 3:- The Greek Olympic contingent lead the parade out.

Followed by Ghana, followed by ???, followed by Sth Africa with 3 competitors walking.

Then Norway ... decent group those folk.

    G ? S N ... seems logical.

Edit 4:- Madagascar have 1 athlete ... and 4 support staff
Malta has just entered ... 1 athlete ... and 4 support staff ... seems a common theme
Bermuda has just entered .. 3 men ... I assume they have 1 athlete?
