Well, the State of Origin is on again, come the end of May again for 2017.
Origin was made for the likes of me.
I used to sit on those wooden benches in the old Lang Park and never understand why QLD were beaten year in, year out by a NSW Team, half full of QLDer's.
Thus, for my demographic, the State of Origin concept was born. Fast forward to 2017 and the Event rolls into Qld again for Game 1 on 31 st May.
QLD chose their Team first ... which raised a few eyebrows ...
QLD TEAM FOR ORIGIN I
1. Darius Boyd
2. Corey Oates
3. Will Chambers
4. Justin O’Neill
5. Dane Gagai
6. Anthony Milford
7. Cooper Cronk
8. Dylan Napa
9. Cameron Smith
10. Nate Myles
11. Josh Papalii
12. Matt Gillett
13. Josh McGuire
14. Michael Morgan
15. Sam Thaiday
16. Aidan Guerra
17. Jacob Lillyman
18. Johnathan Thurston
The selection surprises included:
— Darius Boyd selected ahead of Slater
— Kangaroos winger Valentine Holmes being overlooked
— Anthony Milford being called straight into the starting team ahead of Michael Morgan
— Star playmaker Johnathan Thurston was named in the No. 18 jumper and is rated “very unlikely” to be fit for Game 1
— Roosters enforcer Dylan Napa promoted to a starting position in the front row; and
— Veteran Nate Myles was also named in the front row despite injuring his knee this weekend.
Later that evening, NSW offered up ...

Extended bench:
18. Jordan McLean
19. Matt Moylan
20. Jack de Belin
Coach Laurie Daley and NSW selectors announced the new-look team after a day of drama and uncertainty.
Penrith star Matt Moylan got the nod, being included on the extended bench in the No. 19 jersey. 24-year-old Boyd Cordner
will captain the Blues unit, taking over the position left vacant by veteran Paul Gallen.
No shock calls were made for the Blues’ back line with gun fullback James Tedesco joining Blake Ferguson and Brett Morris
(wingers) for next week’s clash.
Returning NRL star Jarryd Hayne got the nod to play in the centres with Josh Dugan as James Maloney and Mitchell Pearce make up the halves.
Hayne’s selection raised a few eyebrows with fans suggesting his spot was given purely on past Origin form, saying Raiders star
Jarrod Croker was hard done by in being overlooked for the position.
NSW overlooked red-hot Dragons front-rower Paul Vaughan and will stick with a front-row rotation of David Klemmer, Aaron Woods and Andrew Fifita.
