    No doubt, and the huge risks are from both sides. Just a few of the countless possible scenarios would be;
    1. He has a career ending injury, something every player faces every time he laces his boots up. That could happen this weekend.
    2. A million bucks is top-end coin right now, but will surely be what plenty of far less talented players will be pulling down long before his 10 year deal is over.
    3. He hits a form slump that can't be reversed.
    4. He gets pinged for drugs (performance and/or casual use) or other off-field antics and the NRL revoke his playing licence.
    5. JT retires, a few other key players move on, the Cows are suddenly wooden spoon contenders. And he wants out.
    6. Burnout, and he no longer wants to train or play the game.
    7. Irrevocable dispute between him and the coach/management.
    8. A ridiculously large offer from Rugby that can't be ignored sees the whole thing end up in court.
    9. And on and on...
He's a sensational player, but it's not hard to think his manager is keen to push this deal thru so he locks in 100-150k per year for the next decade from this one player. A 5 year deal would surely make more sense for both sides.

^Couldn't agree more, that was fucking dire!. I had absolutely no doubt they'd come out and win the 2nd half (and match) once Bellyache got in their ears at half time, a 14 point lead is no big thing for such a classy side to mow down. But they still never looked to be anywhere near their best. Manly looked good, everything clicked nicely for them and they'll be hard to beat if they keep playing like that.

^Tell me about it, I backed Brisbane. My own stupidity and I thoroughly deserved to lose, didn't check the weather forecast which is an absolute must do step 1 when betting on NRL

^Who knows what the Chooks will do, but if Manly play like last week they could easily get up. To recoup my Broncos loss and turn a profit for the round I've got a Sharks-Raiders-Storm multi on. Good weather at all 3 venues is predicted so the teams can use their back lines, instead of just relying on forwards to hit it up for 80 mins and which ever teams big men drop the ball less win .

    ^ ^^

I took the 8 1/2 start on the Bulldogs.

Both Brisbane and Sydney grounds would have been swimming Pool.

Milford was absent (again) for Brisbane.

Breaks my heart to bet against the Broncos.

The halftime score (7 - 0 Brisbane) would have done me.

Likewise. I was at Lang Park for their first ever game in the NRL. They lit Manly up, who were the defending Premiers. Been a Broncos supporter ever since, but have absolutely no hesitation betting against them. Got to use your head and not your heart when there's money involved...

Storm /Panthers is a tough one. We have been starting slowly so far this season and if the panthers get a jump on us it would be very hard to come back from. Have been very impressed with young Cleary who is playing way above his years.

On the upside it looks like we have Vunivalu back early, so plenty of speed with him, Ado Carr and Blair.

What a difference a week makes. Storm took on Premiership favourites last night and ruthlessly put them to the sword. Storm scored early in a first half that was played at semi-final pace and with a perfect completion rate. Both sides tested each other's line several times but the Storm went in at half time 10-6 up.

Storms winning margin in No way reflects the flow of the game. Penrith came out in the second half and pounded Storms line with wave after wave of attack. The defensive line soaked up this hammering, keeping Penrith scoreless for the half, and piled on 18 unanswered points in a brilliant display of counter attacking football.

The Storm build their game around a solid defence and did so last night with two of their big men missing. With Harris and McLean sitting alongside the dynamic Munster on the sidelines Bellamy brought in a couple of the newer guys who stood up the challenge.

This is how Storm are structured, they don't rely on individuals but instead each man is coached to do his job and have faith that the man next to him knows his job. The Storm are not coached as a team but rather as a squad which makes covering injuries and departures a lot easier.

Grand final replay next week up against Grubby Gallens sharks.

Cooper Cronk announces he is leaving the Storm at the end of the season to move to Sydney to be with his fiancé. That's the first of the big three to leave.

I imagine there will be a lot of talk in the Sydney boardrooms trying to find out who has the money to fit Cooper under their salary cap.

NO FUCKING WOMAN IS WORTH GIVING UP FOOTY FOR!!!!!!!!!!!

After 26 rounds of the NRL Premiership the Minor Premiers and holders of the JJ Giltinan Shield are, as they were last year ... THE MELBOURNE STORM

Tigers had a couple of good games over the last month.
Good enough to jump 2 above the wooden spoon.

    Watch this space next season....

Really can't see anybody beating the storm this year unless they get some serious injuries during the finals to more than a couple of their key players.

^And should be able to roll them in a canter, Manly are playing some good attacking footy right now where as Penrith are a team in disarray who aren't top 8 material. Not having Moylen in the team so Cleary can call the shots is their only saving grace this week, but Manly will still be too good. Can't wait to hear Gould's excuses when they get bundled out, that self centered cvnt is an expert at coming up with reasons of why his predictions were completed wrong .

In any case, every team is playing for 2nd place now. Unless the team bus carrying them to the GF crashes, Melbourne cannot be beaten.

Your chances are far better than your Eels supporting mate David. A full strength Melbourne - in Melbourne - in a final = no thank you!.

Broncos are a fair chance to win this, I've backed them @ 2.36 and they'd be a lot shorter than that if Boyd was fit. They were good last week while the Chooks struggled against a very ordinary opposition in the Titans + Bennett teams in finals series are always very well prepared.

    LATE MAIL

The injury news, rumours and late team changes heading into the opening round of the 2017 NRL Telstra Premiership Finals Series.

    FW1: Fri 8 Sep 2017, 7:55pm, Allianz Stadium

    Sydney Roosters
    2nd

    Brisbane Broncos
    3rd

Roosters: In-form but injured winger Daniel Tupou is still on the reserves list and could make his return from a groin injury. Joseph Manu would be the player to drop out of the 17 should Tupou take the field on Friday night.

Broncos: No late changes expected as the Broncos go into their qualifying final with Kodi Nikorima at fullback and Benji Marshall at halfback.

    FW1: Sat 9 Sep 2017, 4:10pm, AAMI Park

    Melbourne Storm
    1st

    Parramatta Eels
    4th

Storm: No changes expected for the Storm, with Dale Finucane returning at lock and Tim Glasby joining the bench.

Eels: Brad Arthur is expected to stick with the same side as last week, but hooker Kaysa Pritchard is among the reserves and could come into the 17 on game day. Injured fullback Bevan French is at least another week away with a hamstring injury.

    FW1: Sat 9 Sep 2017, 7:40pm, Allianz Stadium

    Manly Warringah Sea Eagles
    6th

    Penrith Panthers
    7th

Sea Eagles: Coach Trent Barrett is expected to stick with the same 17 that dominated the Panthers in their Round 26 clash last week. Darcy Lussick was cleared to play at the judiciary on Tuesday night.

Panthers updated: Centre Waqa Blake has been ruled out with a shoulder injury. Fullback Dylan Edwards, currently named on the reserves list, will be given every chance to play in this elimination final. Edwards was still in a leg brace this week as he recovers from a knee injury but the Panthers could roll the dice with their season on the line.

    FW1: Sun 10 Sep 2017, 4:10pm, Allianz Stadium

    Cronulla Sutherland Sharks
    5th

    North Queensland Cowboys
    8th

Sharks: No late changes expected, with Wade Graham and Jack Bird both named to return. Apart from forward Sam Tagataese (calf injury), the Sharks will go in full strength.

Cowboys: No changes expected for North Queensland who have limped into the Telstra Premiership Finals with seven squad members in the casualty ward, including Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott, Justin O'Neill and Kalyn Ponga.
