    NRL Season 2017

The new NRL season is underway with round 1 results -

    Broncos 26 - Sharks 18
    Storm 12 - Bulldogs 6
    Tigers 34 - Rabbitohs 18
    Dragons 42 - Panthers 10
    Cowboys 20 - Raiders 16
    Roosters 32 - Titans 18
    Warriors 26 - Knights 22
    Eels 20 - Sea Eagles 12

Lots of punches thrown and fines dished out, and great to see the Eels get off to a winning start !

    Well done that man ...

I thought to do this OP myself, but time just slipped away over the week-end.

Thanks Mate ... we have the conversation up and running now.

The surprise result for me was StGeorge's large win.

Nth Qld were lucky to win ... huge stats in their favour.

Sad the news about Greg Ingles ... AC done ... out for 6 months.

How good were Newcastle? I only got to watch 2 games.

^Yes, on True Sports 4 HD (ch 669). But we'll only get about 4 or 5 games each week live, some are replayed later that day/night and some not shown at all because they give preference to airing Super fucking rugby yawnion games .

^Yes it is mate. At least the 3 x SOO games are always shown live, along with every game of the last few weeks of the finals (when the Yawnion season is finally over thank fuck)...

I have ilikehdtv on my android tv box and use it to watch NRL games (that aren't shown on True) from Premier Sports in England, the picture quality isn't as good but it's still ok and they show every game live. I have a keen intere$t in a few NRL games most weekends so watching them play is important to me in case an in-play option crops up that's too good to ignore*, and to see where I went right/wrong for making assessments on teams chances for the following round.

*A prime example of this is when a good team that started at (say) 1.36 is playing a shit team that gets lucky in the first 10-15 minutes, scores a few tries, runs out to a 16-0 lead, and the good team hasn't had the ball. Suddenly the good team is paying 2.20. I'll have some of that thank you, then watch contently till the final score is 16-48.

Until a program is confirmed, I recommend that we work in together -
TRUE - Tuesday 7 March on channel 125. Rabbitohs v Tigers.
    Put it on this channel.

^125 and 669 are one and the same channel, I'm sure this makes perfect sense to True tv .

Anyway a quick look at this week's schedule of live games is:
    Thurs 16:00 Roosters v Dogs.
    Sat 10:30 Knights v Titans.
    Sat 17:30 Manly v Rabbits.
    Sun 12:00 Tigers v Panthers.
    Sun 14:30 Saints v Parra.

The game of the round is Cows v Broncos on Friday. There's a replay later that night on True but fuck that, I'll be in a sports bar or using ilikehdtv at home to watch that one live.

    Free NRL ...

There are internet site which broadcast the games for free.

Knights vs Titans ... 11am Thai Time ... Watch Live Newcastle Knights vs Gold Coast Titans Online Video NRL - Rugby

Manly vs Souths ... 1.30 PM Thai Time ... Watch Live Manly Sea Eagles vs Souths Rabbitohs Online Video NRL - Rugby

It's a low quality resolution, but on a computer screen, it's adequate, plus it doesn't use much band width.

You can find all the sports on the master website ... FromHot.com - FromHot - Sport Lemon - From Sport - Watch Live Sports Online - FromSport

From experience, for the RL, the best link to try first is the second last one of the 6 or 7 on offer.

Let me know if it works for you.

BTW ... the cricket is on here ... Crictime.Com - Live Cricket Streaming - Watch Live Cricket now showing is the 1st Test - South Africa V New Zealand

^ Thanks for those links David. Still having trouble getting them to work though.
Not sure who posted it, but someone posted a link on here one time that I got working, it might have been during SOO last year. Worked fine in Thailand when I tried it over in Australia it would not work unless you entered your credit card details.

Found this is the best place for NRL scores etc - NRL - The official site of the National Rugby League - NRL.com

So far The Storm, the Roosters, the Eels and the Cowboys are the only ones yet to lose a game.

The Sea Eagles have lost their first two, hope that run continues !

Billy Slater finally makes his comeback, after shoulder surgery, in tomorrow nights match against the Broncos. We can expect the Broncos to test that shoulder severely which could spark some fisticuffs.

Storm v Broncos games are always intense with Bellamy always keen to get the better of his old boss Bennett.

Storm are currently paying $2.00 to win.

What agency has Storm @ 2.00?. That's overs, big time.

Should be a good game, there's rain around though which could fuck up a game between 2 very good sides that aren't scared to throw it around...

    Current odds are ...

    MLB - $1.57
    BNE - $2.45

BNE have a 4 points start @ the line.
    Storm versus Broncos
One of the biggest rivalries over the past decade continues when the Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Broncos collide at AAMI Park tomorrow night.

Instrumental to this rivalry is the fact that both clubs (along with the Cowboys) have provided the bulk of Queensland’s Origin players during the state’s dominant reign over New South Wales since 2006.
And it could get even bigger with Billy Slater set to play his first NRL game in over a year after shoulder surgery saw him sidelined from the game for most of the past 21 months.

In that period he only played in the Storm’s Round 1 win over the Dragons last year.

Still, without their veteran fullback, Craig Bellamy’s men managed to reach the grand final, as well as start the new season 2-0, with both of their wins coming on the road against the Bulldogs and Warriors.

The Broncos, on the other hand, are 1-1 after going down to the Cowboys in another golden point thriller at Suncorp Stadium last week, that coming eight nights after their season-opening 26-18 win over the Sharks on the road.

Last year, the Storm inflicted a huge defeat on the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium before Wayne Bennett’s men returned the favour with a 26-16 win in Melbourne just before the finals.

Generally, the Storm has dominated most of the rivalry, winning 22 of the last 28 meetings against the Broncos; as a matter of fact, the Storm are the team with the most wins against the Brisbane powerhouse with 26.

However, the Broncos have won in each of their last two visits to the Victorian capital, including last year’s aforementioned 26-16 win as well as a strong, defence-orientated 14-12 win in Round 15, 2015.
It should be a good match to watch and I have the Storm winning.

    Prediction: Storm by eight points.

TAB now has them at $1.90 at 4.5 points. Still not bad.

Interesting that Benji is on the bench for the Broncos, especially with Bennett knowing Slater is starting on the bench, I would've thought he would've benefitted by having a fourth big man.

^I've seen Benji play live a few times and he's not really big (by NRL standards), probably 5ft 8 and 90kg. Now that Solomona kid the Storm have plucked from somewhere is big, I think they said 6ft 7 and 125kg. How would you like him coming at you at full steam after he's grown up

A good entertaining game to watch tonight but Melbourne were just too good. Brisbane coughed the ball up too many times and against a team like that, it's scoreboard suicide. Brisbane's defence was the bright spot for Broncos fans, it could have been a much more skewed final score. Anyway that's the reigning Premiers, Cows, and Storm all played in the first 3 rounds, their draw get a bit easier now...

    Big Buck$$$$$$$$$

Jason Taumalolo to sign richest deal in NRL history

COWBOYS star Jason Taumalolo is set to sign a record-breaking NRL contract in a move that will effectively keep him in Townsville for the rest of his career.

The 23-year-old will reportedly sign a 10-year deal worth $10 million, according to the Courier Mail.
Taumalolo is the reigning Dally M medallist and one of the hottest properties in rugby league. Seen by many as the most destructive forward in the NRL, the back-rower has a unique blend of speed, strength and the ability to use footwork close to the line.
The whopping contract offer reflects the Cowboys’ desire to keep the 119kg big man all for themselves by making him a one-club player. The deal also makes sure Taumalolo doesn’t follow Jarryd Hayne down the path of flying off to America to try his hand at playing in the NFL.
Taumalolo went to the US in November last year with Cronulla flyer Valentine Holmes to workout in front of scouts from 14 NFL franchises. In January the pair’s manager Chris Orr said he had received interest from four clubs.
The Cowboys can rest easy knowing they’ve got their man for the best years of his career. But there are some huge risks in signing someone on that money for that length of time.

Jason Taumalolo contract: ?Someone will get dirty? on $10m mistake
