Ireland 40 New Zealand 29......Rugby History

My Celtic cousins were superb tonight. What a performance and a brilliant game of fast free flowing rugby. Thats the first time Ireland have ever beaten the All Blacks

Good on the Irish lads...what a fantastic game.

Hearing just this week how invincible the All Blacks were, anyone could coach them and we'd still trample anyone, etc... - knowing we choke when we get complacent I felt a loss coming... Just like the America's Cup, that we were up 9 - 0 to the US...
We all thought we had it in the bag, got a tad arrogant - then we let it slip. It's in our DNA... we are a confidence team... awesome when things are going our way, not as mentally tough as the aussies and other teams in critical moments, we tend to crumble under pressure...

I'm a proud Kiwi, but always like the underdog to win... 100% happy for Ireland and can now happily disclose I have Irish roots (my Nana's side)... heh..

All class from our Coach in defeat... this is how it's done lads and that's what I love about my country (humble) *most of the time* in victory and defeat...

"They thoroughly deserved the win and it makes up for the last time when they probably should've won too," All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said.

like the NZ i am a kiwi but happy to see the Irish beat the AB, should give them some humility and they need a bit to bring them down to earth.

    Well that escalated quickly.

Kinda odd feeling. A defeat had to come eventually but who would have picked that - it was pretty emphatic. It's certainly the Year of the Underdog sports wise.

Can't begrudge Ireland the win they were simply the better team for all but about five minutes of the game. Plus there's something about Ireland and the Irish fans that makes me more happy for them than I am disappointed for myself.

And it makes the return match a whole lot more interesting!

Would love to have watched the game. Will have to watch it on YT when it's uploaded there. Judging by the other results the only other watchable game would've been the Pumas-Japan one.

Something's gotta give - these professional players seem to play endlessly, with very little down time to recuperate.

Great game and tribute to Foley, delighted but the All Blacks were great competition and got some great tries too, rugby at it's finest and good sign for the future 6 nations away match at Murrayfield in Feb.

Just as the Irish would congratulate the Kiwis who here are generous in their loss shows rugby is far superior to politics, now if I can only beat Ant in an argument...

Glad you lot got to see it in a historic football stadium in the US. Really ticked off that I found out about this after the fact. This is just not covered well at all in US sport media.

Damn it Ant next time tell me about something like this!
