    2016 Rugby League Four Nations

The 2016 Rugby League Four Nations tournament will be the fifth staging of the Rugby League
Four Nations tournament and will be played in England in October and November.

The series will be contested by Australia, England, New Zealand and Scotland.
Scotland qualified for their first Four Nations by winning the 2014 European Cup.

    News and Teams are here

As a prequel to the tournament, there is a Test Match this Saturday between
    Australia and New Zealand.
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

I don't mind me a bit of RL. I'm a RU fan first and foremost but not so much of a snob that I can't appreciate both and don't get into that whole Us v. Them nonsense but that having been said...

International RL is a bit of a joke really. This tournament should really be called the Two Nations + 3/4 and 1/16ths of Two Others.

^ Well, NZ, in recent times has often overcome Australia.

England are genuinely a force as the tournament is being played there AND they have Wayne Bennett as their head coach.

    As for Scotland ... hmmmm

Would have made it more an interesting competition had they included Papua New Guinea in the mix.

As for me, I'm looking forward to the test match this Saturday. While the Aussies are favourites, the KIWIS, if Shaun Johnson is on song can stick it to us.

The Kiwis have a massive and experienced Forward Pack.

It's being played in Perth, so an interesting choice of venue.

    Go the Aussies!

That has caused a bit of a stink in the Kiwi press.

Actually I wonder if that and other sporting events will be shown here this weekend?

The Soccer season just started in Oz and maybe there might have been some issues securing an appropriate venue.

A league game will rip up the surface a bit and maybe it's difficult to get the playing surface up to a level required for Soccer.

Just surmising ... don't know for sure.

As for watching the game, I can usually get a free internet feed for the game.
It's low quality, but it's free.

Check back on Sat arvo, Thai time and see if I've got the link posted.

I think that they (NZRL or whoever) are a bit miffed that it has gone to an AFL stronghold in Perth as opposed to being held in NZ. Long-running gripe that one I think, the lack of fixtures held in NZ.

Also because it's Perth it means that kick-off won't be until 10 PM NZ time.

Here is the link to the game ... Watch Live Australia vs New Zealand Online Video International Rugby Events - Rugby

It's low res, but does expand to a full screen.

If it drops out there are a few more here ... FromHot.com - FromHot - Sport Lemon - From Sport - Watch Live Sports Online - FromSport

Apparently, it's blowing a gale in Perth, but have tempered by now.

NZ's forward pack is HUGE and experienced, Australia have to hold them and let their backs to do the work.

BTW, NZ have won 3 of the last 4 of this style of game.

Apparently, there are more KIWI's in the crowd then Aussies!

Good news is that the stream is working perfectly: clear picture, no a single glitch.

Bad news is that they're all showing fecking ice hockey not the RL!

Australia too good for New Zealand in rugby league international

Greg Inglis and Valentine Holmes have spearheaded Australia to a comprehensive 26-6 win over New Zealand at nib Stadium.
Inglis earned man of the match honours on the back of a try double and Holmes was not far behind on his Test debut, scoring one try and setting up another.
The five-tries-to-one win before a ground-record crowd of 20, 283 in Perth on Saturday night was the first rugby league international to be played in the western capital.
Coach Mal Meninga said the convincing victory would give Australia some valuable momentum into the Four Nations starting in Britain later this month.
It was the Kangaroos second win under Meninga from two attempts after their 16-0 defeat of the Kiwis in Newcastle in May.
"I am very happy with the performance," Meninga said.
"Our start was excellent and we really dominated field position. They wrestled that back and started to control the ruck better. We responded and I was really happy with that.
"Our defence was really good but we can play better with the footy."
Inglis capped off a fantastic week, which began with the birth of his daughter Quinn Sybella on Monday, and ended with a try in each half and a dominant effort out wide which brought 164m.
Inglis trained with the team for the first time at Friday's captain's run after arriving in Perth on Thursday.
"Greg says he doesn't need to train now," Meninga joked.
"He said he will just do the captain's runs before each game.
"It just goes to show what a professional he is."

I thought an unconvincing win with a number of lucky tries going the Aussies way.

Couldn't agree more. It's the only country in the world that Rugby League is its national sport, they're truly passionate about the game. Where they fall flat against Whiteys is size and discipline, they're built like brick shit houses but they're a short race of people with the attention span of goldfish.

I reckon they'd still roll Scotland though...

I reckon it was a deserved win and a great lot (well a couple anyway) pies coming my way.

I'm not a big fan of peanut hugging, but if it doesn't clash with the proper sports then it's a good excuse to go down the pub and laugh at Scotland.

My Kiwi mate I was sharing a house with in QLD up until about three weeks ago said something very similar.
I expected something like that from him and actually thought he was being quite gracious.
