Manchester City fans pull up Guardiola for comments on home attendances

“I would like more people to come to the next game on Saturday,” Guardiola told BT Sport after the 6-3 win, which attracted a crowd of 38,062. “We will need the people next Saturday, please, because we will be tired. I invite all our people to come next Saturday, 3pm, and watch the game.”

Manchester City: Pep Guardiola's call for more home fans 'uncalled for', says supporters group

A leading Manchester City supporters group says manager Pep Guardiola's call for more fans to attend their Premier League game with Southampton is "disappointing and uncalled for".

After Wednesday's Champions League win over RB Leipzig, Guardiola said he "would like more people" on Saturday.

Kevin Parker, general secretary of City's official supporters' club, said the comments were "frustrating".

"It's not factual, our attendances are generally excellent," he added.

"He [Guardiola] doesn't understand the difficulties that some people might have getting to a game on a Wednesday evening at 8pm."

    Great night and goal fest!

Nice to see most of the squad getting time on the pitch, Walkers absence in defence was noticeably by Nkumbas hatric. Can't remember another player scoring a hatric past Ederson..

The other side of this iron curtain was about a dozen Leipzig fans...

Just the 17,000 empty seats at the Emptyhad last night.

Even Pep knows you're a load of plastic nobodies:

"I would like more people to come to the next game on Saturday."

Guardiola sends public plea for Man City fans to fill Etihad for Southampton after 17,000 empty seats vs RB Leipzig

What a pathetic club they are. Half of their fans probably think The Kippax is a fancy restaurant in Stockport.

There will only ever be 1 club in Manchester and the world knows who they are.

    MU-MUF-MUFC..OK!

The traffic coming in from Stockport is terrible at that time of night.

I didn't know you'd already done this, but I make no apologies for the post above laying a bit more on.

Another bellend in their piss stained armchair wades into the fray

The only sections of seating that were empty last night were the 3 blocks in the South Stand allocated to Leipzig fans.
I've had more aunt besies roast potatoes on my Sunday dinner then they had travelling supporters.
Just anti champion bias from the usual negative media from the so called hasbeen "big club" red knob jockeys.

Hals come out of hiding since his humiliation by the Young Boys, Viva Ronaldi

Did you hear the city fans booing the corrupt Fifa Champions league anthem last night or chanting "If you hate man u clap your hands?"from your armchair in nose sherbet capital?

There's only one team from Manchester..

    oh Man City

More laughable whining from City fans.

Kevin Parker, the general secretary of City’s official supporters’ club, feels the manager has inflamed the situation.

“It did surprise me,” Parker said. “I’m not sure what that’s got to do with him. He doesn’t understand the difficulties that some people might have getting to a game at the Etihad on a Wednesday evening at 8pm. They’ve got kids to think of, they might not be able to afford it, there are still some Covid issues about … I don’t see why he comments on it.

He’s absolutely the best coach in the world but, in the nicest possible way, I think maybe he should stick to that. It just takes the edge off what was a good night. People are talking more about Pep’s comments than a fantastic game.

“To question the support, which is effectively what he is doing, is disappointing and uncalled for. It does also play into the hands of supporters from other teams who want to take every opportunity to have a go at City for what they think are the poor attendances.

“People refer to the Etihad as the ‘Emptyhad’. It’s a little bit of fun by the opposition supporters but there’s no justification for it. Our attendances are generally excellent.”

Adding to Parker’s frustration is that he would have expected a big crowd for the Premier League fixture on Saturday anyway.

“Of course he would want a full house but I don’t know why he would question whether we’d have one against Southampton on Saturday,” he said. “It is a different scenario".

Ok so Champions league last Wednesday night, Southampton on Saturday in the Premier league then Wycombe next Tuesday in the Carabao cup.
That's 3 games in 6 days, which equals a lot of expense for the average working fan with a family.
    Parking, petrol, drinks,food,program, scarf,tickets etc
    It adds up!
I bet the critics who take the piss about attendances have never visited their local club 3 times in under a week with their family.
    Just sayin'

^ well, given the owners don't need the cash why don't they subsidise the tickets, might help soften their image of state terrorist sponsors

^^Meh - nobody’s even mentioned the Carabao Cup vs Wycombe, nor would anyone take the piss out of a low attendance. That’s a total red herring.

But arguing that it’s tougher for City fans to find a babysitter?

Not to worry, Chits. Most of you will be supporting Chelsea next year anyway when you've found another plastic bandwagon to jump on.

What a joke of a club.

Indeed, we have billions in the bank.
Most tickets are pretty reasonably priced apart from the Premier League but it's all the extras and add ons.

I'll bang up a few from 1999 , the turning point in Man City's history.
Beating Gillingham in the 2nd Division play off finals at Wembley, it's all been gravy ever since.
