My ex Mrs worked there and behind there. I used to live with her in Audenshaw, but she lived with her mum and dad off Hyde Rd in Gorton when we were getting it on and I lived in Crumpsall.

Very decent people her mum and dad were too and I got on like a house on fire with her dad and brother until her old man revealed he was a City fan.

It was all downhill from there, but his daughter was a game girl, so not alll bad.

I went to school next to the dog track, Central Grammer for Boys, just along Kirkmanshulme Lane.

I used to play football against them and my ex-missus was from there. Just remembered: Spurley Hey!

Was it Wright Robinson in later years (Right Robby we used to say)? There was another school that had a good football team too at primary level.

    Gorton Hey?

I was St Matthews from Moston/Blackley.

Don't think Wright Robinson existed at that time. It's just off Abbey Hey Lane in Gorton (I went to Abbey Hey Primary before Central Grammer). Central Grammer was on Kirkmanshulme Lane behind Belle Vue going towards Stockport Road. When at Central I lived in Higher Openshaw, so something of a trek every day to get to school. Central Grammer for Girls was in the city centre, off Aytoun Street if memory serves me correctly.

I don't know Central Grammar. Maybe a different generation. Me dad knows all those schools, but he was from Langley and played in all the Sunday Leagues.

    A right rough cnut.

Just had a look at Google Maps, and it no longer exists, having been replaced by the Belle Vue Leisure Centre and Belle Vue Speedway (the National Speedway Stadium) on what was the playing fields.

Me dad would know all that stuff, PAG. He's probably the same age as you and he knows Manchester (and United) inside out. Langley now Moston lad.

I was home in the summer and at a funeral in the south and went down kirkmanshulme lane though. That area is a different world for me and I haven't got a cfue after Piccadilly.

Same for me. I went into the Forces in 1968 and have only been back a few times since. The last place I lived in Manchester was Miles Platting, just off Bradford Road near to where the Etihad is now I believe.

Odd comment for you to make seeing as you had the same photo substitute your choice previously - and queried it.

It's funny how you try and line up as many targets as possible in your posts, especially early in the evening, slinghsit.
