No doubting it's a tough game, but class players find space and time. There was no space or time on that pitch because the Kiwis lacked match fitness and the England team lacked skills. The Convict team of 5 years ago or so would have put 30+ points on both of those teams.

I watched the series about a year ago over in the antipodean lands with, I think, Samoa as the 4th team? &, the game yesterday was missing the skills shown then.

The Kiwi big fella, was he 12?, if he'd been wearing a white shirt would have won the game for us - big lads putting in and taking big tackles can still see space for others, offload, wrong foot the defence, etc. Nothing of that nature from England yesterday - it was a dour match that was not as exciting as any of the union WC games; and I like League games usually; just not that one.

The general feeling down here was that you had to be a purist to appreciate it.

    I disagree.

Both England and NZ have many more players, and coaches in the NRL now. Gareth Widdop the English stand off is a class player who has played most of his league in the NRL. James Graham is one of the absolute stars of the NRL, and it isn't because he is pretty and can sidestep.

In the past the Kangaroos had an aura about them. Not now, the English and Kiwis are playing against them every week and have very little respect for them, especially in the forwards.

FFS one of the best Kangaroo forwards is James Tamou, a Kiwi from Auckland they bribed into playing for Australia. Quite honestly he would have trouble making the Kiwi team, that is how much depth they have and the Aussies don't in comparison. Their forwards are midgets they have been sucked into selecting because they have believed the pinnacle of the game was State of Origin. In the meantime the Kiwis and English have bred some big tough forwards to more than match them.

Those Burgess brothers are outstanding and Sam is definitely not the best of them. That will show through this season.

That is Tohu Harris. He was selected as the outstanding player by Stephen Kearney (Coach). He is a back rower but can play anywhere. He played standoff a year or so ago when the Kiwis halves were injured and was brilliant when the beat Australia. He was the player that caught the offload at ground level on his finger tips and passed on to SKD to score in the corner.

He is a quiet guy who was selected for a tour a couple of years ago. he even arranged tickets for his family to travel to England. Then SBW made himself available after they had named the team. Kearney dropped Tohu Harris for SBW. Many thought it was a bad move for team morale and it proved to be a poor tour.

SBW was never selected again, nor was Benji Marshall. Kearney learned from that mistake and has selected players on heart rather than reputation.

    Easily. Read this statement again and see if you can find why anyone with half a brain would immediately know the hack in question - like yourself - is a complete package Kiwi fuckwit;

The only reason I can see why Burgess is coming back to league is money, because he certainly hasn't achieved anything in rugby....

The ridiculousness of it all is clearly lost on you, but seeing as the hardest 5 years of your life were grade 1 let me help; So one of the best League forwards on the planet hasn't achieved anything in Union (which is 100% correct), but it must be the money that's lured him back to the sport where ANY team would make room for him because he's simply THAT good?!!. Do you inbred imbeciles have a village idiot or do you just take it in turns down there?. It was a rhetorical question...

As for his "Rep" career, I saw you throw out some bullshit about having played Rep Rugby in the WC thread so it seems everyone down there has . You might have added the disclaimer that under 8's as a fresh reserve is indeed "Rep" Rugby though. However, the well known 3 things a Kiwi will always tell you are now 4.

    (1) Tried out for the All Blacks.
    (2) Great Grandmother was a Maori Princess.
    (3) I was only helping it over the fence.
    (4) Jaysus (a new and highly annoying go-to word for you RSPCA dodgers, trotted out to start every post.

Stick to soccer threads Bruce, and try to maintain what little dignity you've got left. You know sweet fuck all about Rugby League and it's embarrassing to think someone who can walk upright is so wrong so often. You do walk upright I'm assuming.

^Brucie playing rep rugby...PFFFT! The only thing that he played, was the Blue Veined Flute. If there was ever a chance to make a rep team playing that, Bruce would have been a stand out performer....

Good win by the Poms last night. I hope you saw the match Batty, a quite low scoring event (wet/raining conditions) but there was some good footy played by both sides and it was well worth watching.

I just hope your best is getting good enough to make the aussies take international League seriously- until then, state of origin remains our main series, and international tours mainly a piss-up.

I think both the English and the kiwis can roll Australia right now, let alone Queensland or NSW...SOO is the pinnacle in the eyes of the greedy ARL and the TV channels.

^And the 50-80,000 in attendance, depending on stadium capacity. No other RL event(s) even come close. Clearly, not one of them knows what the pinacle of Rugby League is

Yep, I did watch it thanks - much better than the other two games.

A quality game of League is always a good watch, so that one was really enjoyable, and had proper atmosphere this time too. We bought in somebody who could kick, apply pressure and get us in the right places. The rest of 'em fronted up well and a few bits of skill out wide too.

Not much between these two teams, and I still reckon the Kiwiss will be better when closer to match fit. But, we'll have a few players back in soon, so there's some good matches for the next few years.

Can the Aussies step up and be part of it?
