But TBH, he's got the hugely experienced Steve Smith @ 1st Slip giving advice which was absent in the 3rd test.

He could have used bat pads more on the leg and off side. Waited til last session to do that. Otherwise he made good calls. I was surprised he bowled Head on front of Smith but maybe Smith has issues bowling or doesnt practice after neck hit

My best mate was at the game and was Whatsapping me about the lower order putting up a fight. We've been here so many times before though and after the umpteenth time of incompetence from the batsmen it's the thinnest of straws at which we clutch.

Stokes should be captain. Root isn't up to it. Root has been fairly good with drs but otherwise just lets games drift and had no idea what to do with Smith.
