    State of Origin 2015

Live: Origin teams named with Laurie Daley sticking to his guns

NSW coach Laurie Daley is set to gamble on under-fire halfback Trent Hodkinson when he announces his team for State of Origin game I, at midday.

The Bulldogs playmaker has failed to spark in 2015 and was criticised heavily by Blues legend Andrew Johns for his subpar performance against the Sydney Roosters on Friday.

But Daley is expected to show huge faith in the man who scored the series-clinching try last year, partnering him in a new-look combination with recalled Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce, set to be named out of position at five-eighth.

State of Origin I: Daly Cherry Evans in doubt for Maroons, Blues omit Luke Lewis and select debutants Josh Jackson and David Klemmer

Queensland utility Daly Cherry-Evans is in doubt for the opening State of Origin match against New South Wales after injuring his elbow in Manly's loss to Penrith on Monday night.

Cherry-Evans was named in the Maroons' side on Tuesday but was unable to attend the team announcement in Brisbane as he was having scans on his elbow in Sydney.

The Manly half-back occupied the number seven jersey for the Maroons when Cooper Cronk was injured last year, and has also been used off the bench as an impact player.

Queensland selectors stuck loyal to the players that have done the job previously for the Maroons despite New South Wales last year ending Queensland's runs of eight successive series wins.

Brisbane Broncos prop Josh McGuire has won a spot on the bench to make his debut for the Maroons while Roosters forward Dylan Napa has been named 18th man for Queensland.

The Blues omitted experienced campaigner Luke Lewis when naming its squad on Tuesday, while handing debuts to Canterbury pair Josh Jackson and David Klemmer for the opening match in Sydney on May 27.

Maroons coach Mal Meninga, who has agreed to another three years as Queensland coach, said no one has been brought in as cover for Cherry-Evans who was due to arrive in Brisbane later on Tuesday afternoon.

"We're still waiting on the results of scans," Meninga said.

"We'll know a bit more when he (Cherry-Evans) gets here. We'll make some judgements a little later on today."

"We've got a very good side, all the guys in the 17 and Dylan (napa) are in very good form for their respective clubs."

Internal state competition from the second best league nation on the planet...it is no longer the pinnacle...the forwards are midgets...but it will be a good watch as usual...I can't pick a winner but if I had to it would be Queensland...they still have the Melbourne spine...and the Cockroaches are not the Kiwis.

Even the Australian press are saying it is no longer the pinnacle. The Kiwis would smash both teams. England and Samoa would give them a run as well, probably too close to call....pinnacle no way

When the Warriors (which is 75%+ of the NZ team and staff) can bolt in NRL Premierships at will people might take what you say seriously Bruce. But as they never have and are currently battling to beat cellar dwellers like the Eels in Golden Point, you and your ridiculous attempts to make people be in awe of all things NZ will continue to ridiculed as the shit-dribbling rambles of a dead set fuckwit. And rightly so.

The coach is from Brisbane, the assistant is from the Tigers, and three of the team are Warriors players...what do you say to that?

New Zealand started rugby league in the southern hemisphere in 1907...you ignorant person...the Australians picked up on the idea and started the Sydney comp in 1908....and considering you claim to have come from Canterbury did you not know that back then the Canterbury RFU held a vote to decide whether they would stay with the Rugby Union or go with the new game.

Bruce here's an idea. Why don't you start a thread about this weeks BIG game between the Oratgo Oysters and the Wailikuna Whitebaits, you can inject as much Kiwi bullshit into that as you like and for sure NOBODY else will post in a thread that affects them in no way shape or form. Your attempts to make anything non-NZ somehow relevant to NZ are beyond pathetic, trying to make The Masters thread all about Steve "the leech" Wooliams was bad enough but you're taking the piss now.

In short, why not just fuck off and do us all a big favour.
