State of Origin - game one: New South Wales v Queensland live blog - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)Cameron Smith kicks off and Origin I is underway.
QLD 6 - 0 NSW
The Maroons go down the right-hand side and Cronk just strolls through the defence to score.
With the Blues defending on their line yet again, Thurston barrelled around to the blindside, and it looked like the defence was distracted because they completely fell asleep, allowing Cronk to step through almost untouched.
Qld score one, The Blues score two . . . bloody conversion miss!
Much more entertaining match than last years 2 opening crash ball snoozefests....
HALF-TIME. NSW leads 10-6
The Blues were on the back foot early but it was completely flipped for the final 25 minutes of the opening stanza.
Job done, better side won.
Queenslanders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sigh . . .
CONVERSIONS!!!!
KICKING!!!!!!
Great game. Though the final score should have been 10-17 because Slater was denied that try in the first half. QLD dominated through most of the game but the scoreboard does not reflect that. Well down to some strong Blues defending. Makes the next two games interesting. Bring on Melbourne!

The cheapest tickets for the event were $80 a pop, they had over 80,000 in attendance but they couldnt pay for a decent singer or band ? Bit fookin greedy NRL!
Like I asked you before you KIwi wanker What state or province or territory or whatever you tossers call it over there would you put up to play Qld or NSW. it is STATE of origin NOT country of origin even if it was most of your "kiwis' are islanders anyway.
^You're wasting your time on this dickhead Col. Like most Kiwis he can't come to grips with the complete insignificance of himself and his pimple on a pumpkin country. What sends them overboard is trying to figure out why 80,000+ would watch a SOO game live with record tv viewers when there's no NZ players in it, and when NZ recently played Oz at Suncorp the crowd was less than the Broncos get for a home game. This does not fit with their juvenile look at me look at me!! mentality.
So they've always basked in this "NZ players could beat both teams" bullshit safe in the knowledge that they'll never play at SOO level so nobody will ever know, much like a lapdog barking at Rottweilers from behind a fence
To be fair most of the Kiwi's I know are all round good blokes, almost like Aussie blokes, really. It's just Brwuce and a few dickheads with chips on both their shoulders that act like this...Originally Posted by Headworx

You wouldn't even need to leave Auckland.
^Yeah but who would turn up to watch it besides the players immediate family and friends?. It could be free admission and beer and still struggle to get anyone interested...
Back to what should be a sheep fucker free Origin topic, who can give me a good reason for this;
Thurston is probably the best kicker in the comp from left field, being a right footer who hooks the ball. Smith is one of the best kickers in the comp from right field, being a left footer who hooks the ball. Why wouldn't Smith kick the conversion attempt from QLD's 2nd try which was in the right corner, instead of Thurston who is never comfortable from the right touch-line?. That 2 points could have easily been the difference between winning and losing the match.
Top idea , There should be a message sent to Big Mal for that to be the norm.
That is because they don't have to play the Kiwis.Originally Posted by kingwilly

State of Origin 2015: Maroons great Chris Close slams Blues’ referees meeting request
NSW coach Laurie Daley requested a meeting with referees.
MAROONS great Chris Close has slammed Blues officials for trying to tear apart the fabric of State of Origin.
Coach Laurie Daley has requested a meeting with referees boss Tony Archer to complain about Queensland’s alleged heavy handed tactics in Game One, a meeting Close described as ridiculous.
“If you can’t stand the heat then get out of the kitchen,” Close said.
Blues officials are furious with Queensland’s tactics in Origin I, oblivious to the fact Billy Slater’s nagging shoulder injury is the result of a Beau Scott cheap shot in last year’s series.
Close, man of the match in the first two Origin matches ever played, argued ferocious tactics from both teams made Origin such a compelling contest during its 35-year history.
Blues coach Daley wants to meet with Archer before selecting his Origin II team to argue Queensland should have been penalised more often in Game One.
Daley believes his team was ambushed by the Maroons and will argue they played to a different set of rules.
NSW officials have highlighted five incidents they believe show Queensland players illegally hitting Blues players.
The Blues’ complaints include a high tackle on Mitchell Pearce, a late hit on Josh Morris and shoulder charge on Josh Dugan.
Close said Origin had become the country’s most watched sporting event because of how passionate and hard the game was.
“Please … this is State of Origin. This is bloody rugby league,” Close said.
“Mal Meninga nearly killed Michael O’Connor (1991, Game Three).
“They need to get their hands off it.
“If you can’t stand the heat then get out of the kitchen.”
Close said he actually respected Blues bully Beau Scott because he gave his all for his state.
“Beau is out there doing his best for his state and good on him. That’s what it is about,” Close said.
“We don’t want players who don’t give their all … who don’t care.”
Close also slammed the idea of allowing Kiwis who have a history in either NSW or Queensland to play Origin and represent New Zealand at the same time.
Origin eligibility is being revisited at year’s end and there could be allowances made for players who want to play Origin and represent tier two nations such as Samoa.
There are some league stakeholders who want to see Kiwis raised in Australia also allowed to play Origin, opening up the concept to Kieran Foran, Benji Marshall and Jason Taumalolo among others.
“That’s what Test football is for,” Close said.
“Why would you change it?
“The only people who get it are NSW and QLD people. No one else will ever get it.
“It is like two towns in a small area having a lifetime rivalry.
“It is state against state, mate against mate.
“We shouldn’t change it.”
