They know basic muay thai to deal with stand up, maybe a blue/purple belt in bjj to work on their back, and some basic wrestling training at the local college gym for take downs and td defence.

I think that's not a bad thing, tbh. A better cross-section than most 'dedicated' martial arts that are 'fashionable' like Tae Kwon Do (e.g.) and just teach flashy, but ineffective kicks to pull in impressionable kids that have seen the moves in films only.

I want to like MMA but i just find the thing a bit boring. The stand up stuff is okay but i lose interest when the fighters go to ground. Fedors fights were quite exciting but nowadays too many fighters are happy to lie in a tangled heap in the corner looking for a tap out. Not much fun to watch. Give me boxing any day

Boxing is still there....just th good one is not advertised....Lomachenko vs Rigondeau is the best thing coming up. Boxing is still a beautiful art to watch but mostly mass media things don't promote good boxers
