you obviously haven't really watched it Squizz.
That was my attitude until I became a student of the art.

    It's got it all.
    True mixed martial arts.

very rarely do you get 2 juditsu guys going at it on the ground.
these days there is plenty of stand up from the boxers and kick boxers.
the grappling is just another discipline and the more you learn about rear naked chokes and armbars, the more impressed you become.

Not at all, I have sadly watched many matches whilst at the gym and can firmly say it's toss.

Most effective technique for bringing somebody down is the nipple crippler.

Yes, he will have to be very careful not to underestimate the octagon and train specifically for it, unlike Mirko who was too arrogant.

Fedor is the best ground and pounder in the sport...i reckon the cage will suit him down to the ground. can you imagine the pain he will inflict on his opponents with elbows??

This will really be high drama. I can't remember any sport where one such imtimidating person was set to enter a forum, and I suspect that lots of guys want a shot at him. But, I'll bet they're equally shitting their pants too.

nobody in the world can touch him and he's only about 30 years old....if he does a randy couture he could be the dominant force in MMA for the next decade

Well, he just brings an entirely new dimension to the UFC. He blows through BJJ with his Sambo moves and ground and pound. He neutralizes stand up strikers with unsophisticated kicks, but a killer boxing game and KO punch power. And, you can't hurt the guy, he's like a rock.

    Almost superhuman. Amazing.

he's a monster alright. you remember that one fight with "ironhead" fujita where he caught him a wild hook and had Fedor out on his feet??

2 minutes later Fedor submitted him......amazing powers of recovery and willpower

Yeah, that was great. The other thing about the guy is he has no great physique and almost looks fat. He's not intimidating looking like Mirko or menacing like a lot of other guys. He just goes in and dismantles people.

Then again, the other greatest fighter "Hoyce" looked like a skinny wimp in his white gee.

I can't wait for Brock Lesnar to hook up with UFC, complete with metal chair.

Can't deny the guy is an athlete.

a lot of the great japanese fighters came from pro-wrestling....Takada and the legendary Sakuraba to name a couple.

i saw the Brock Lesner fight in the K1 MMA show...he demolished the stooge he was up against with unreal vigour. he has potential. he is a very talented "real" wrestler too:

Lesnar wrestled at Webster High School in Webster, South Dakota where in his senior year managed to have a 33-0 record. [5] Lesnar later attended the University of Minnesota on a full wrestling scholarship, where his roommate was fellow professional wrestler Shelton Benjamin who also served as Lesnar's assistant coach.[6] Lesnar won the 2000 National Collegiate Athletic Association wrestling championship as a heavyweight after placing second in 1999. Prior to joining the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Lesnar also wrestled at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, North Dakota.[3] Lesnar finished his amateur career as a four-time all-American, two-time big-ten Champion and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college.

How can you not take a guy with that wrestling background, the athleticism of a WWE celebrity and the build of a tank at least vaguely seriously.

unless he has a glass jaw I can't imagine he'd be easy to beat.

^ Fair enough. If guys like Rampage can make it with street fighting skills, yeah some of the pro wrestlers do make the crossover, esp. the Japs mentioned. Sakuraba's one of my favs. Hope he makes it over to UFC.

I don't put much weight in pretty bodies gotten in the weight room with lots of steriods. Technique, speed, stamina, courage, and ability to take a beating, and conditioning usually mark champions.

Think Muhammed Ali. Float like a butterly, sting like a bee.

saku's a legend. he's 39 now though and has sustained a lot of injuries during his career...would be nice to see him fight in the UFC one last time though

I'd like to see Fedor v Kimbo Slice.

A taste of his own medicine, away from his favourite car park/ back garden haunts, would do the cocky seppo brawler no harm at all.
