Yeah, it sure as hell wasn't boxing that made her a champion. It was arm bars.

Leave the ring without a congrats to the champ, no post fight interviews.

I used to be a Rhonda fan but she is one sulky fukking princess.

Waste of time downloading Rousey fight.
    I don't think there's been a UFC fighter that's unbeaten ?
The nearer you get in sport to a real fight situation the less predictable it is , with more luck involved. So why does she getupset about it so much ?

Did she spend the last 12 months learning to box or just the last 12 weeks ?
Mayweather offered to train her; perhaps she should have taken him up on it.
That scowling face pre-fight, looks old as well.

    This fight was good though.
plenty of show-boating and insane tattoos.
I don't usually like the lightest fight weights- too much frantic movement and fighters always, somehow managing to bounce straight back up off the floor after a take down.

    The fighter that lost-
the commentators kept showing a headbutt that supposedly gave him the cut,
but showing a headbutt on the other side of his face...
how the fuck did that cause it ?

The strikers are the power in the UFC now. The days of grappling and ground fighting are long gone.

    Garbrandt/Cruz fight a perfect example.

They are exceptions, not the norm. Ground and grappling are a major part of a UFC fighter's game.

Nah, as much as I'd like to agree (coming from a Muay Thai background/bias) that "stand up" is dominating, I can't.

Wrestling is the foundation of MMA. Many times a strong wrestler has destroyed a strong striker, by negating the strikers strengty by taking him down.

Even the top Lumpinee champ would get pawned by a much less skilled kickboxer *with a strong ground game. Wouldn't be a fair contest.

I concede mainly because I frankly don't know much about it and made a guess.

Even the smallest wrestlers on USA uni scholarships will easily take down the biggest and baddest football players...Fun to watch after the bars close...

Like a dung beetle manhandling a huge hunk of shit...Heh...

Trained killers they are, the grapplers, especially when they're competing for a spot at a strong university...

When I was training/fighting there was a mantra drilled into us "Muay Thai is the king of all stand up martial arts".. "Only Muay Thai, can defeat Muay Thai"...

It was true (back then) Karate, Kung Fu, etc... always came up short against what was then the strongest martial art...

    fast forward 15 years....

That is not true anymore. In it's purest form, it is too strict and rigid/predictable.
Even the might of Muay Thai, has been unlocked by the new generation of fighters (like Conor Macgreggor).. who don't conform to one strict style...they have blended a combination
    of all martial arts together.

Without a full knowledge of Brazillian Jiu jitsu, submission defense, take downs, arm bars, leg locks, etc... a strictly one dimensional fighter is ummm well... fucked...

No way, wrestlers rule. Watch the Dillashaw v Lineker fight, Lineker is a KO artist, but it was Dillashaws TDs that made all the difference.

RR just has a terrible coach, Nunes is super strong for 2 rounds and then that's it, she is weak as a kitten. She just needed a coach to explain to her that her striking is shit, and develop a game plan to survive 2 rounds then armbar Nunes.

Watch Nunes fight against Schevenko, 3rd round she had the shit kicked out of her, but she won the first 2 so took the fight.

BTW for some reason alot of the fighters that come from a wrestling background end up having awesome power in their striking too.

^ That crazy power comes from their base... strong hips/core.

Yup, a smart wrestler can neutralize a good kick-boxer.. might have to eat a few leg kicks in the process, might not be a pretty fight, but a win is a win...

I thought RR had a good shot (if she implemented a game plan that played to her strengths)... styles make fights... unfortunately, her coach thought she

could bang... he should be shot... (with my new gun Walther Parrus) lol

I had a chat to Mark Hunt last week. He's probably past it now. Had a couple of big losses lately.

Used to follow him in K1.

He's a unit, that's for sure.He has hands the size of a small building. Very nice bloke.Funny as well. He was having a few quiet ones too. Not sure if that's the best build up to his next fight......

^ Met Mark on Ponsonby Road a couple years ago, nice guy, good sense of humor.

You should watch his fight with Ray Sefo (also a very talented kick boxer)..

That's why they should change the rules to make it fairer and more like a street fight
I'm sure the rules were fixed early on the favour Brazilian ju jitsu

They should allow cage grabbing with hands and feet - why not? they use the cage in other ways, like to trap a guy against or to help shimmy themselves back up.

Headbutting that would stop most of these shit, grab ass merchants too,
    At least allow back headbutting.
Then the commentary would go ''he's got his back !!! '' SPALT '' he had his back...''

^ There are a variety of reasons why headbutting is illegal in MMA. You can't block a headbutt while in the clinch/grappling like you can block an elbow.

Headbutts can result in massive injuries, lacerations, cracked skulls, smashed noses and orbital bones, brain damage (to both fighters).

Reminds me of head banging giraffes...

UFC on Fox 24 on tomorrow. The headliner is mighty mouse vs some guy, and co-main is jacare vs whittaker, another good import from down under (i think he is a kiwi, but now living in aus). And tbh I think he will pull off an upset tomorrow and I have made quite a big bet on it. I hope it comes off.

In fact its a good card from top to bottom, well worth catching, they wont show it on thai tv, but I have UFC fight pass so will watch it online.

UFC on Fox 24 - Johnson vs. Reis

They should fence the ring in half for those smaller fighters,
they are too small and fast for a big ring
Also i don't like how when they fall they somehow bounce off the canvas right back to their feet so effortlessly

maybe have 2 little fighters vrs one big one

1 min walk from my apartment... some nice pubs along that stretch, but prefer K-road. (less pretentious).

Mighty mouse is awesome, I like the lightweight division, exciting, blisteringly fast, beautiful technique.

Speaking of my mate Mark Hunt (43) did a number on Derrick Lewis tonight, in my hometown of Auckland.

UFC Fight Night: 'This is my hood' - Mark Hunt targets next opponent after happy homecoming

Mark Hunt is back and he is already eyeing his next opponent.
The Kiwi combat sports legend celebrated his first mixed martial arts bout on home soil with a fourth-round TKO over American Derrick Lewis at UFC Fight Night in Auckland.
After last July's no-contest against Brock Lesnar, who failed multiple drug tests, and a third-round knockout to Alistair Overeem in March, the 'Super Samoan' had not tasted victory in over a year.

    Couldn't be prouder...

    Good fight
looked pretty even- lost my voice telling that hunt to throw body shots.
The turning point was when that black boy started walking about with his hands on his hips
Classic - I need a sit down pose
