    Michael Schumaker

Fingers and toes crossed for this guy.

The prognosis is not good here.

Hope you pull through boy, I know he's got a bad boy image on track, but the guy has done so much to help others off it.

    When skiing keep ON piste!

I'll say a prayer for you tonight boy.
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

While he not likeable person, for me.
Little doubt he is a very competitive winner.
I just think he is a win at any cost cheat, sportsmanship! not a chance, given half a chance, he will push others off the track.

That is why Mark Martin in Nascar never won the championship, finished sec several times, You got to move them over. They all do that.

Not a great Schumaker fan for the same reasons as most, but it'd be a real shame for the guy to check-out due to a snow skiing fall after the amount of races he's walked away from unscathed....

a few off camber bends, left -right corners, like it when marcos ambros,
a street -road race back ground has won,
but back to schumaker, hope he pulls through.

    Schumacher's condition improves

German motor-racing champion Michael Schumacher's condition has improved slightly after an operation to relieve pressure on his brain, his doctors have said.

A new scan taken overnight showed signs that his condition was "better than yesterday", but he is still "not out of danger", doctors said.

The seven-time Formula 1 champion suffered head injuries on Sunday in a skiing accident in the French Alps.

He was put in a medically-induced coma

Late on Monday night doctors carried out a new scan on Schumacher which showed "an improved situation" and indicated a window of opportunity for a second operation, doctors said.

The family took the "difficult decision" to give consent for the operation, and doctors operated on Schumacher for about two hours

A subsequent scan revealed a "slight improvement" in Schumacher's condition.
Doctors said they could not deem the former F1 racer "out of danger", but said that they had "gained a bit more time in the evolution" of Schumacher's condition.

"It is better than yesterday," the medical team said. "But all the family is very much aware that his state is still sensitive and anything can happen

Apparently, when he awoke he was absolutely livid to find that Nigel had called him Shoe-Maker.

    'Cobblers', replied Nigel

He's a TTT but still it's not good to be in a coma on New Years Eve. I spent all of Christmas, New Year and a couple of months in hospital last/this year.... they're not the most cheerful of places believe me.

Apparently he was wearing a helmet, but the speed of the impact was too much for it.

Schumacher seems to love speed, and the associated risk, whether driving or anything else.

I hope he pulls through but I really cannot see him racing again, not after this, surely.....

Imo there is little harm in seeing the lighter side of a person's life even in death.

This reminds me of recently attended funeral of a lost friend I hadn't seen for many years. The guy had succumbed to a brain tumour at the age of 66 and several teachers/musicians who knew and worked with him had some very funny stories to pass onto those who attended.

There will of course always be a modicum of sadness in anyone's passing although tales from life's journey does tend to lessen the impact of such a loss. At this particular service the deceased was afforded 3 marvellous cheers as his casket disappeared from view and the family also received a rousing round of applause as they left the building.

Everyone I spoke to following that particular service, including family members were extremely pleased to have experienced such a wonderful tribute to the man.

Michael Schumacher has become the victim of an unfortunate accident in doing something he loved. He is a very talented/natural daredevil and tough as they come and I suspect he has a better chance of survival than most because of this.

Whether he recovers or not we shall always be looking back at some of his wonderful achievements for decades to come.

That's fantastic news Mr L about even the slightest improvement.

My younger brother went through a horrendous broken skull accident I witnessed, , we had about a week by his bedside of finger crossing, magic moment when they come round for sure

Blimey, another german bites the snow

Angela Merkel fractures pelvis in ski fall

Chancellor Merkel went skiing with bodyguards during a Christmas break in St Moritz

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has fractured a bone in her pelvis in a cross-country skiing accident in Switzerland, her spokesman says.

She will have to remain lying down as much as possible in the next three weeks and several visits will be cancelled, Steffen Seibert said.

She also suffered heavy bruising in the accident, in the alpine Engadine region of eastern Switzerland.

Ms Merkel was not skiing fast at the time, the spokesman added.

He called the injury "severe bruising linked with a partial fracture on the left, rear part of the pelvis".

Immediately after the accident, during the Christmas holiday in December, Ms Merkel was not aware that part of her pelvis had been fractured, the spokesman said. It was a visit to her doctor on Friday that revealed the exact injury.

He did not give details about how it happened. She was skiing near the resort of St Moritz.

Ms Merkel still intends to chair a cabinet meeting on Wednesday - the first gathering of all her coalition ministers. She is now walking with the aid of crutches.

But mostly she will be working from home. She has cancelled a trip to Poland this week and will not receive Luxembourg's new prime minister Xavier Bettel in Berlin, the spokesman said.

Ms Merkel's injury comes just days after fellow German Michael Schumacher's life-threatening skiing accident in France.

The Formula One motor racing star, who retired in 2012, is in a medically-induced coma and has had brain surgery after slamming his head on a rock while skiing off-piste at the French alpine resort of Meribel.

His injury has sparked much debate about speed on the slopes and the risks some skiers take

Just read an up to the minute report on Michael, it doesn't sound particularly good.

It's 8 days into this medically induced coma stable but critical

    That's the official line.

This also comes with a warning to the journalists not to report anything other than the official line, ie not the snippets of info emerging as they are set up camp in the hospital area.

This must have been the worst Xmas for the whole family, let's hope a miracle occurs this new year
