I see Amir Glassjaw has cancelled his up coming fight with Devon Alexander, preferring to wait and see if he can get a shot at Floyd (money) Mayweather next year , along with his already massive earnings if he gets it ,it should keep the wolf from the door for quite a spell !, Floyds performance against Saul Alvarez last time out was a travesty of just justice IMHO how one Judge could vote for Alvarez is beyond me , sad to read that Ken Nortonhas passed away for me he beat Ali every time they fought , for those oldies like me who remember a true boxing great and a credit to the sport .Google up youtube and watch Sugar Ray Robinson"pound for pound" for me his record will never be beaten ,his fights with Jake La Motta were all wars to say the least ,and La Motta is still alive and kicking today! , here is Khans net worth, not bad for a young Paki Kid from Bolton eh! ,a lot say all that money for a short fight, but its all the years and years of hard work and training to get to that level , and if people are prepared to pay good money to watch any boxer perform then IMHO they have earned every penny .Amir Khan Net Worth 2013 Money Per Fight Cars Collection

there are some good unbeaton fighters in the queue too
    -
Khan belives he is world class , so why not fight Devon Alexander , ranked 3 in the world as a perfect warm up fight ?
Cos deep down he knows he's useless and just wants to be in the right place at the right time in case mayweather suddenly ages and falthers ..

Sadly hard work was never a full substitue for pure talent , he's poor at his choosen craft , despite the advantages of living in Britain and world class training in usa from Fredie Roach etc .

Will the match be made with mayweather , no-
khans simply not good enough , but waiting for the fight , will give him an excuse to not get his ass kicked by anyone else for a while

Imho,Amir has talent without a doubt ,sadly when matched with a world class "banger"his jaw of pure porcelain lets him down , his planned move up to 147 is just for the big money and who is to blame him?, however before he tackles or plans to tackle Mayweather he should be made to fight some one in the top 5 at welter to make his challenge more realistic, for me in spite of his faults outside the ring Floyd is a proud and extremely talented Champion ,his fight with unbeaten Alvarez proved that along with all the "iron" in both divisions , so to make the fight marketable Khan has to fight a beat a welter weight in the top ten ,other wise it won't draw flies and whats more Floyd is well aware of it too!

Blue , here are the currents ratings, HTF Khan is so high up in the WBC ratings without having a fight at 147 without having a fight never mind beating a worthwhile genuine 147 pounder is quite mysterious Boxing Rankings | WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF | Fightnews

^fair point. But, even though he looked like he would become world class, he hasn't. He has still done well for himself, but his ego is bigger than his boxing talent/skillset.

Yes, I agree with you he has a large ego and not much behind it. Ticket sales are what it's all about. The challenger in a world championship fight normally receives 20% per cent of the fight day purse. Most of the purse is pay per view and ticket sales. If I was going in to the ring and I thought that maybe this could be my last fight I would say anything to make a sale.

    *Edit I'm full of shit.
You drag yourself of the bed at six in the morning. Try and run 10K and then go and workout. These men are warriors and we get to talk about them. More power to the kid. I hope he gets his payday and fuck all the wasters sitting on their sofas. I know I couldn't.

^^ ^^^ He may think he's better than he is but I've always found his over all attitude to be good. I don't find him obnoxious, gobby or unpleasant in any way. I've always thought he's carried himself well with respect, politeness and maturity. Good lad IMO

Roach has picked a dud. Sadly rankings don't mean a lot now days. Paydays is what it's all about. Maywheather is a a modern pro. Look at the way he avoided the Pac man.

Boxing (pugilism, prize fighting, the sweet science or in Greek pygmachia) is a martial art and combat sport in which two people engage in a contest of strength, reflexes, and endurance by throwing punches with gloved hands.

Amateur boxing is an Olympic and Commonwealth sport and is a common fixture in most of the major international games - it also has its own World Championships. Boxing is supervised by a referee over a series of one- to three-minute intervals called rounds. The result is decided when an opponent is deemed incapable to continue by a referee, is disqualified for breaking a rule, resigns by throwing in a towel, or is pronounced the winner or loser based on the judges' scorecards at the end of the contest.

The birth hour of boxing as a sport may be its acceptance by the ancient Greeks as an Olympic game as early as 688 BC. Boxing evolved from 16th- and 18th-century prizefights, largely in Great Britain, to the forerunner of modern boxing in the mid-19th century, again initially in Great Britain and later in the United States. In 2004, ESPN ranked boxing as the most difficult sport in the world.

For all those "elder generation " boxing purists out there, may I suggest you watch this video of the late and great Sugar Robinson entitled "pound for pound" for those who have never seen it sit back and enjoy the trip down boxings "memory lane" a true Champion both in and outside the ring

Disagree. He won a great slug-fest 12 rounder against Marcos Maidana who is a real knockout artist, and I think it gave him and other people a belief that he has actually a decent chin. He then stopped Zab Judah in 6 rounds..
He just got dropped by one heck of a left hook by Danny Garcia in the 3rd round of a fight where he was beating Garcia up and had him badly cut.
Khan has very fast hands and a great offense, but leaves himself open to counters. Stylistically, this might be a good match-up with Mayweather. No one else has managed to trouble him much anyway.

Quite correct Kmart he did survive against Maidana a known banger ,however for the last two rounds he was all at sea and did not know what day it was , if this had gone 15 rounds he would have been stopped , and again you are correct he was all over Garcia until he just walked into one ,for me when he fought Judah ,Judah did not want to know and IMHO "went in the tank" ,as for Mayweather everything that should be said has been said Already ,but when fought De La Hoya having watched the fight 3 times I thought that De La Hoya just about "squeaked " it , the fight I am looking forward to in Feb is Tyson(the mouth) Fury V David Haye ,thats if it does not "kick off" at the weigh in!

I suppose the accusations were rife after this fight with Prescott in 2008 ,but to be fair Prescott was a world class banger has his record showed at the time , it was shortly after that that Khan give his Cuban coach the boot , just like he has now parted with Freddie Roach

The most I've seen Mayweather tested was against Zab Judah, and / or Mexican warrior Castillo, who both gave him tough fights. Castillo 'shading' it according to a few pundits. I thought he did enough against De la Hoya to win both fights, although Oscar should have won the first by being more aggressive. Mayweather now seems a different class to everyone else in the whole sport though.

Current stars to watch out for: Russian KO Machine; Gennady Golovkin at Middleweight, another Russian banger at Light Heavy: Kovalev, can't wait 'til he fights Adonis Stevenson. There are some great fights getting made these days, as boxing is under pressure maybe from MMA, and criticism of the ranking organizations and fight promotions camps.
