    Jimmy Thunder passes
    12 February 2020

Former heavyweight contender of the 1990s Jimmy Thunder has passed away in an Auckland, New Zealand hospital after recently undergoing brain surgery. He was just 54.
Thunder was a regular on American television and scored wins over the likes of Trevor Berbick, Tony Tubbs and Tim Witherspoon. He never fought for a Big 4 heavyweight title, but did hold the IBO and WBF belts.
A big puncher, Thunder compiled a record of 35-14, 28 KOs.
    RIP.

Note: Crawford Grimsley's most notable match was against Jimmy Thunder. In 1.5 seconds Thunder delivered a right hook to the head and Grimsley hit the mat and the match ended. This match serves as the fastest boxing match in history. Before the fight, Grimsley had a 20-1 record with 18 wins by KO and his sole loss being a twelve-round decision to George Foreman 4 months prior.

Boxing legend Jimmy 'Thunder' Peau has died suddenly following routine surgery aged 54. Peau, who was born in Samoa before attending school in Auckland, won the Edinburgh super heavyweight gold medal in 1986. He became a professional boxer in 1989 after not making the 1988 Olympic team.

Peau, who's was born Ti'a James Senio Peau, won 35 bouts - 28 by knockout - and lost 14 times before his career ended in 2002.

^^Just seen this. Thunder had amazing one-punch KO power. I remember watching him spark out the Grimsley guy with the first punch thrown in Rd 1. It was on "Tuesday Night Fights", as I recall..? Sad to hear of his demise after brain surgery. RIP Jimmy.

I'm not much of a boxing fan but even I remember at the time that his omission from that Olympic team was controversial.

The big rematch at Heavyweight this weekend. Tyson Fury v Deontay Wilder.

This Saturday night on pay-per-view from Las Vegas, WBC heavyweight titleholder Deontay Wilder defends against challenger (and LINEAL!!!!!!! champ) Tyson Fury in a rematch of their first bout from Dec. 2018, one of the most controversial results in the last few years.
In that first outing, Wilder (42-0-1, 41 KO) dropped Fury (29-0-1, 20 KO) two times, but Fury otherwise outboxed the defending titlist to the point that most in the media and fan base seemed to believe Fury deserved the win on points.
But it came back a split draw, with neither man losing his “0,” the green belt going nowhere, and plenty of controversy and demand for a rematch.
After some curveballs and left turns in 2019, we’ve arrived at that rematch, as the two promised would happen in due time. Last year, Wilder knocked out Dominic Breazeale and Luis Ortiz, while Fury stopped Tom Schwarz and scraped out a tougher than expected win over Otto Wallin.
Wilder is 34, Fury is 31, and neither man has shown any huge signs of aging or whatever; in reality, they’re still pretty young for heavyweights, right in what should be their primes.
Who will win Wilder vs Fury 2? Vote now! - Bad Left Hook

I thought Fury won easily on points last time, but Wilder dropped Fury twice during the bout, the second KD especially looked like Fury was completely unconscious but making a Lazarus-like ascent off the canvas to dominate the rest of the fight.

50-50 for me. Fury will outbox Wilder all night, but Deontay just has to land that Tomahawk-missile right hand (biggest leveler in the sport right now) and it's all over.

    Who you got on Saturday.?

Fury just has to jab and run and keep Wilder at length and step back a lot. He knows what he's up against now.

It'll be similar to AJ's schooling rematch with Ruiz and another boxing masterclass from the Brits

I saw it described something along the lines of: 'Fury has to win rounds Wilder just has to win one second'

    ^ oh he can

^^Fury will win rounds against Wilder with ease. Wilder keeping Fury down will be harder.
Fury is a different class than that street thug.

Wilder had Fury down twice in that first fight and on the second knockdown Fury rose from the dead like the undertaker and went on to even win that round, so Wilder will need more than your one second. And don't forget that was Fury's first competitive fight in 3 years.

    Fury on points, unanimously.

With that degree of confidence you had better wager all your worldly possessions on the pikey.

Did you do that with your 'Wilder will knock him out in Round one' prediction last time, snub?

I have no idea who will win the fight. I don't like Wilder at all, but he keeps doing the business, win after win, and I expect him to do so again. I hope to be proved wrong.

    Pick 'em odds:

ne of the most anticipated sporting events of 2020 takes place this Saturday as Deontay Wilder (42-0-1, 41 KOs) takes on Tyson Fury (29-0-1, 20 KOs) in a rematch of their scintillating-yet-controversial draw back on Dec. 1, 2018. If the odds are any indication, this is anybody’s fight. Wilder and Fury are two very different boxers, but are unquestionably the best at what they do. Wilder’s power has become the stuff of legend and Fury is perhaps the most technically skilled and clever heavyweight we’ve seen in a generation.
Pick ’em odds are extremely rare in boxing, a sport that commonly has headlining favorites priced in -2000 to -5000 range, and they are even more rare in fights of this magnitude — so it will be very interesting to see where the money lands as we get closer to the bout.
The betting market for Wilder-Fury II has been open on this first for just about a year, as it was clear that these two were going to meet again, but most of the action won’t come in until later this week, which is when we’ll start to see the odds begin to move.
Most sportsbooks opened with Wilder as a slight underdog — between +100 and +110 — for the rematch, but the American has been bet up to -110 or higher at every shop. Wilder closed as a slight favorite (-145) in the first fight.
In addition to the more traditional bets, MGM is also offering a host of props for your betting pleasure:

Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury II Betting Odds and Props for Rematch on Feb. 22, 2020 in Las Vegas | The Action Network

See where the late money lands.

btw, I actually still go for the puncher, and there's no way Fury will go immediately for a KO as he's saying he will.

    Wilder in 8.

That is just a ruse as most expect.

It is, among many other channels IPTV can access including one that wants $49.95

If you don't have it, put the Live Sports tv app on your phone and when it comes to sports you'll never wonder what's on, at what time, and on what channel ever again.

It would be if I didn't hate Wilder. I want Fury to win exactly the way you describe.
