Yeah, nah.... I was cheering for Klit - but all the same, it wasn't an unfair stoppage IMHO.
Josh won the fight, fair and square. Easy to say after the fact, he shouda coulda, etc...

No one is immune from punches (some handle them better than others though).. I think Ortiz is underestimating both fighters and just wants a big payday knowing his time is running out.

Ortiz is pointing out what myself and many others saw. Watch the ending of the fight again. None of those punches landed so why the hell would you stop the fight? With a veteran fighter like Vlad you do not stop a fight in those circumstances.

^ So true, that's why I'm starting to hug his nutz, cause he's a gentleman, good sportsman...

^ Pretty gay there Dickie. But Vlad has been a great champion and is someone who will no get his due respect most likely. I hope he comes back to beat AJ and then promptly retires.

What fucking rubbish, Klitschko didn't even know where he was. The last body shot left him rooted to the spot, he blocked a few, took one to the face, and the next punch could have given him a brain bleed.

Referees are SUPPOSED to stop fights when the boxer cannot defend himself, you twit.

^Got to agree. He was out on his feet from 2 previous big knockdowns (that big uppercut and a sweeping left hook), and was pretty much defenceless, getting rocked with unanswered shots on the ropes.
-This is when referees have to step in.
Ortiz is just stirring the pot, hoping for the next shot at AJ.

Let's face it, they all know Joshua is the money-go-round and they aren't going to get any of it unless they are allowed on for a ride.

Anthony Joshua savours 'surreal' thrill of Sir Elton John and Dr Dre in his corner

We spoke to Elton John before the fight. He sent a message, saying he would like to speak to me,

It felt surreal, Elton John wanting to talk to me. He's following boxing, not just me.
following boxing? (Anyone ever seen Elton sat in the audience of a big fight??????)
yes of course he is, fuck all to do with homo grooming

He was knocked out on his feet, he wasn't defending himself and it's great in the modern sport that the referee had the intelligence to stop the fight before he was really hurt.

Mayweather reckons Mc gregor has a shot at beating him... how's that for honesty?

(Or, as I personally believe, he's just being uncharacteristically magnanimous, purely to lull mac G into a false sense of security)...

    Here is the full article:

Floyd Mayweather explains why Conor McGregor could BEAT him in boxing match

Floyd Mayweather has hinted that Conor McGregor could pull of the shock of all shocks and beat him in a boxing match.
The two have long been linked with a superfight and the American believes the UFC champion could upset the odds.
Referring to McGregor as the "2nd biggest name in MMA", he told TMZ: "I'm not gonna sit right here and knock Conor McGregor. He's gone out there and done what he's had to do. It's obvious he's done something right thus far to get to the point where he's at .
"I've been off for a couple years and I'm 40 years old now. So, I'm a lot older and he's still in his 20s and I'm in my 40s now. So that could play a major key, we don't know. And he's a heavy hitter.
"Has he signed a contract yet? Absolutely not. In due time, we'll just see."
Mayweather is long odds-on favourite for the proposed bout with the bookies, with McGregor being a 33/1 outsider.
But Mayweather isn't taking anything for granted and insists McGregor could pull off an upset.
He added: Every time he goes out there and defeats fighters, he's standing up. He's in a boxing position and he's beating fighters.
"Does he have a good chance of upsetting Floyd Mayweather? I can't say, but anything can happen in the sport of boxing."
Mayweather's comments come after his dad said he would "beat the s***" out of McGregor.
Floyd Mayweather Sr told FightHype.com: "Here I am, I’m a 64-year-old man and I’ll beat your ass. I’ll beat the s*** out of McGregor!"
He added: "Floyd’s gonna turn him upside down."
Vice President of Showtime Sports Stephen Espinoza recently said that talks for the fight were "at a standstill".
He told Stitcher: "It's largely at a standstill. There hasn't been a ton of progress and I think if they don't move relatively quickly, people may move on."
He added: "I think part of the fear on the UFC's side is that they'll never see Conor again.
"If he makes 50, 60, 70 and then you never see him in the ring and he retires in Ireland and so much for their megastar.”

There are a few more fights coming up this month.

*** LJs LiveOnSat Sports Fighting on TV

No mention of Brooke or Groves on the 27th, but I expect that will appear sooner or later.

They've both got a fair bit on their plates on that day.

^ Ditto! can't imagine Chavez pulling off an upset, but hey, stranger things have happened in boxing... he's has been slack in his training, but looks focused leading up to this fight...

Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, is the man... legend.

Let's hope his son does him proud this weekend.

He has been embarrassing his dad for the last few years at the least. Drunk, drunk driving, and quitting on his stool.

^ Fook I love this boxing thread... no flame wars, hardly any nastiness at all... no unmentionable personage ... just us lads talking about the gentleman's sport...

I'm gonna hide out here with you boys.. promise I will be good...

Hey, we should have friendly bets on fights, or has that already been implemented?

Let's hope Chavez makes weight. That is usually his biggest opponent; he obviously gets the munchies after smoking all that weed, eh?

Anyway, a decent-ish undercard that sees the return of 140lb Argie slugger Lucas Matisse. And also the rather good Featherweight prospect Joseph Diaz.

164.5 Catch wait. Pretty sure he will make that. 1 million dollars a pound for over that. Alvarez has never fought above 155. He wanted 160 but no go from the Chavez camp. So he went for it...
