^ Norton's losses to Ali and Hagler's loss to Leonard most painful losses for me as a boxing fan ... bar none.

^ You watched him fight? He is not stiff like your clown and a true athlete. AJ will be blasted out in three rounds. Bets?

Hmm Wilders punches are erm.. wild, he has no defense, AJ would school him IMHO.

I still think we have yet to see the best of AJ.

Not saying AJ is the best or anything, but he's in the mix.

    Edit:

He was good, but too small and over-rated. Without the defense *head movement of a Tyson (A true, full-sized 'heavy' would destroy him).

Holyfield wasn't bad (a midget like Rocky in the heavyweight class though)... Wilder is 6 '7.

Yeah, I'll bet you'll be moaning like a stuck pig when Joshua knocks him on his fat arse.

If you're reading clickbaiters using fake names, then you're the one spouting bollocks.

Bit like all that "Formula 1" experience you got at Goodwood, eh?

Sorry for the late reply. Best Heavyweight fight in a loonnng time, imo.

Thought Joshua looked vulnerable, but listened to his corner and made changes during the fight which is the sign of a good champ. Especially at Heavyweight.
I would think that Klit must be kicking himself for not pressing during round 5,6, and 7 when AJ was reeling, and looked pretty gassed (Guys with bodybuilder physiques get tired easy) during this phase of the fight. He resorted to his normal cautious / economical style and missed his chance.

Looks like a rematch will be on the cards. Not sure about Wilder as AJ's next opponent. Imo; he is not a good boxer; just a one-armed bandit in that everything he hits with that bazooka of a right hand seems to fall over.

It will sooner or later, because they're both going to run out of people to fight very quickly.

^ I agree provided that neither of them lose to some other opponent it will happen but I doubt it will be this year.

We have early ratings for Anthony Joshua’s dramatic win over Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium. Showtime broadcast the fight live in the United States, and drew an average of 659,000 viewers. Peak viewership appears to be at 687,000 for rounds 5-6, which saw both men suffer knockdowns.

This was Joshua’s fourth fight on Showtime as part of his exclusive US rights deal with the subscription network, and none of his previous three bouts averaged higher than 390,000 viewers, so this was a considerable leap in viewership totals for the Brit considering the time zone difference and the fact that the US TV situation for the Klitschko fight wasn’t sorted until two weeks ago. It was reportedly the largest audience Showtime ever received for a live afternoon airing. Adrien Broner’s February win over Adrian Granados is Showtime’s best-rated card in 2017, with an average of 779,000 viewers for its night-time broadcast.

HBO broadcast the same-day replay at 11 PM ET/PT and their number is expected to be higher than Showtime’s. Final ratings for both networks are expected to be revealed on Tuesday. In Klitschko’s previous two fights (both in 2015), he averaged over 1.6 million viewers on HBO in his win over Bryant Jennings at Madison Square Garden, and 1.038 million for the live HBO airing of his loss to Tyson Fury in his adopted home country of Germany.

From a UK standpoint, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn told the BBC that they’ve set a record for most domestic PPV buys of all-time.

Speaking to Radio 5 Live after the fight, Hearn said: “We broke British Box Office records on pay-per-view last night.

“We can't tell you the number last night because it's too early but the record was 1.5 million for Manny Pacquiao against Floyd Mayweather. Last night beat that for sure.”

It’s been a tremendous stretch for the UK’s boxing PPV market. In addition to Joshua’s ability to get at least 300,000 buys in his pre-Klitschko fights, a March non-title bout between David Haye and Tony Bellew reportedly did just under 900,000 buys (keeping in mind the source), which would also place it among the highest selling PPVs in the country. The next pay-per-view is expected to be comparatively smaller, with Kell Brook defending his IBF Welterweight title against American standout Errol Spence Jr. on May 27th. That fight will be held at a soccer stadium in Brook’s hometown of Sheffield, England.

Lastly, the German TV ratings are out from private free-to-air network RTL. In an official press release (German only) sent out on Monday, 10.43 million viewers tuned in to see the bout, with the average for the overall broadcast coming in at 9.59 million. That’s higher than the 8.91 million (40.1% market share) for the Tyson Fury fight. The 42.3% market share for the 14-59 age demographic is his best since beating Poland’s Mariusz Wach by unanimous decision in 2012, with over 11 million watching the contest. His best-rated fight was his 2011 win over David Haye, which peaked at over 16 million. As it stands, Wladimir has three fights left on his multi-million dollar agreement with his longtime television partner.

Agreed. AJ has limited movement, but decent speed. He is only mid 20's though, and as a natural athlete (and clean-living, thus far) he should get a lot better.
The Cuban guy you mentioned earlier Luis Ortiz is also unbeaten, and imo the bogeyman in this division. Time ain't on his side though.

Luis Ortiz: I'll Stop Joshua in 8, Klitschko Let Him Off The Hook!

Ortiz agrees with the other article I posted that this was a bad stoppage. Also almost all the commenters agree. You have to be landing punches to get a stoppage..

WBA #1 rated heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz (27-0) was a very interested observer of Saturday's WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight title fight at Wembley Stadium. Anthony Joshua climbed off the canvas to stop Wladimir Klitschko in the 11th round of one of the most exciting heavyweight fights in recent years.
Ortiz is the WBA's mandatory challenger and was supposed to be next in line to face Joshua, but earlier this week WBA President Gilberto J Mendoza said that he may give the Joshua-Klitschko winner a "special permit" to make a voluntary defense before facing mandatory challenger Ortiz.
The 38-year-old Cuban recently signed with boxing power broker Al Haymon and was scheduled to return to the ring last Saturday against Derric Rossy but was forced to pull out of the fight with an injury. He stated after news of the injury was released that he would wait for his shot against the Joshua-Klitschko winner instead of taking an interim fight.

After watching Joshua hit the canvas, Ortiz is even more confident that he will stop the 2012 Olympic gold medalist.

"I feel more than ever that I will ko Joshua within 8 rounds - but I also feel that after Klitschko dropped Joshua with one punch that Eddie Hearn will never let Joshua get in the ring with me. To me Klitschko let him off the hook. I wouldn't have. I would have had him out of there in that 6th round," said Ortiz to BoxingScene.com.

"Look, it's simple. Eddie will protect his cash cow. You heard it yourself, how Joshua didn't mention my name knowing I'm next for him but he called out [Tyson] Fury after fight. I saw weakness. I saw a fighter that can be dropped with one punch. I even say he got lucky they stopped the fight because he wasn't even landing a punch when it got stopped. If they wouldn't have stopped it he was gassed out again - plain and simple."

The Cuban southpaw hopes to face Joshua in the fall and hopes that the Brit honors his mandatory status. Ortiz said that regardless of what Joshua does he expects to fight for the WBA title before the year is over.

"I congratulate the young man for courage but I'm next and that is that. Look, my team let that fight happen because the WBA and Eddie Hearn asked us for a favor and because Klitschko didn't want to fight me but I'm done being pushed back. It's my time and I want my WBA belt so yeah I'm calling Joshua out. If he likes he can just give up the belt but if not then October or November sounds good to me so it's your move boy. To be the best you have to fight the best," Ortiz told BoxingScene.com.
