^Politics aside, any thoughts or predictions for this weekend's Mayweather - Maidana rematch?

My prediction: Mayweather to win easy on points this time around. He has got the gloves and the ref he wanted (who will stop Maidana's fouling and swarming tactics), and will have Maidana pretty much sussed out, the same as his rematch with Castillo (who beat him their first fight) when Mayweather outboxed him easily in the return.
Looking forward more to the (only one) good match on the undercard; John Molina vs Humberto Soto. This should be a cracking fight.

I shall continue my long , unbroken run of wrong predictions.
    Madiena win ko round 4
    My logic:
Mayweathers age has to catch up with him sometimes; as the guy at the weigh in talk said, he's 37 and a half, and when you start talking in halfs you know its important.

A 'lucky' punch, Madiena throws enough.

look at this photo- everyone knows stone beats sizzors

Not wishing to make an Issue of it but a certain Lt Heavy weight World Champion is now 50 and as good as ever ,I think it all depends on how you live, Certain boxer's are "old and washed up" at 30, I watched Juan Manuel Lopez yesterday get flattened again at the ripe old age of 32 a mere shadow of his former self ,and then of course is every body's favourite who confounded the critics when he won the heavyweight title again at fuck knows what age George foreman

This was the best fight on the card ,sorrily Angulo has now been reduced to a human punch bag ,OK he rallied a little in the last 2 rounds but too little and too late ,I would not like to see the state of his face when he wakes up the next morning Boxing News | De La Rosa knocks down, upsets Angulo

    Mayweather vs Maidana
It was an interesting fight, I enjoyed it,
Maidana had a good go , nailed him nice at the end of the 3rd , shame it was right at the end ...

As usual the commentary was painful ,
waded through 20 streaming links, but still ended up with, I think, boxing commentators Jim watt and J Rosenthal.

Both have annoying voices , thick bastard Watt just could not understand why , maidana was not attacking non stop throughout the fight, nor why mayweather was not dancing non stop ...And told us this about 40 times.

He thinks cos he can sit on his arse talking non stop others can perform likewise .

The editors, instead of showing the corner at work in between rounds .. keep switching to celeberaties, do we really need a 30 second shot of Pakistani boxer Ameer Khan etc .

At least his countryman kell brook was absent, having had his leg slashed in Tenefiffe recently.
So that pair wont be fighting anytime soon .

Legendary Bernard Hopkins took a beating yesterday at the heavy hands of wrecking-ball Super Heavyweight champ Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev.

It's the first time I've ever seen Hopkins knocked down and generally beaten to the punch / beaten up, in his whole career. How he survived the onslaught in the final round I do not know, but he has always had a huge punch resistance.

Looks like the baton has finally been handed on to a younger man. Hope Kovalev finally gets to unify all the gongs at Super Heavy by hammering Adonis Stevenson, who has managed to evade him so far.

Yeah that should be the next big Money fight for Kovalev ,Stevenson is just about out of worthy opponents and this would be "box office" without a doubt ,lets hope they can "get it on" as the late Star ref Mills Lane used to say

Smartest boxer ever, Harry. Previous to Saturday night, anyways.

He is in unbelievable condition for that (or any) age, has previously never been knocked down or taken much punishment. Probably one of the most ring-savvy and technical boxers ever, and always has a gameplan and a way to get into his opponent's head well before the fight.
He is a living legend and a multi-millionaire, but just still enjoys the shit out of boxing and beating up younger guys whilst proving the naysayers wrong, time and time again. Never ducked anyone either; he took on Kovalev who is probably the biggest puncher in boxing right now, to give boxing and it's fans what they want.

This time however, he met a younger stronger guy with a good gameplan and better execution.
First time Hall of Fame induction, as soon as he announces his retirement.

The only one of the champs brave enough to give Kovalev a shot. Nobody else especially Adonis Stevenson would touch Kovalev. Give it up to BH..I think he knew he would probably lose, but he is associated with Golden Boy, he promotes himself, and he has his brain left. Plus again he was the guy who made it so that now the other names cant duck out of fights with Kovalev.

If he keeps trying to push a 49-year old body in the ring with young pups, that brain of his will not work much longer.

You can't defy age, even if you keep lining yourself up against chumps.

    Trevor Berbick springs to mind.

Washed up. No comparison Harry, look at his last 6 fights compared to BH. I think BH will stop boxing now. He stepped up to the plate and came away fine. Golden Boy owe him and his promotion company now. Think money not age in this case.

^^Gotta Agree with With KMART and AO in their respective posts 466.467 and 469 ,Hopkins has nothing to prove ,maybe its just his pride as a pugilist that spurs him on ,it certainly is not for his lack of finance

I was talking about the fact that he wasn't very good but he was still the last man to beat Ali.

    But never mind.

Bottom line is that Hopkins should put his feet up and enjoy life rather than letting himself get battered into a wheelchair or an ICU.

Mundine takes a narrow points victory over unbeaten Belarusian boxer Sergey Rabchenko.
This makes hm top contender for the WBC belt, but in reality he has no chance of booking a fight with Mayweather.

Never understood why someone with title asperations would not base themselves in the US where they can earn a rep.

Bloddy hell, woke up this morning to hear mundine won,was wishing along with most people in aust that he would get a flogging.
He was not based in the states because his pro muslim rants post 9/11 did not go down well with the locals.

Mundine has always been a great boxer.

If he would of only just keep his big mouth shut and shown a bit of respect to people he would of had the Australian public in his corner.

As it stands most think he is proper wanker outside of the boxing ring.

A great boxer all the same.

Made Danny Green look like a proper tool.

All that talk and Green boxed like a girl.
