    NFL 2013

It is worth starting a thread at this point, as the season will start soon.

Lots of injuries already in practice with torn ACLs.

More info to come on the upcoming NFL season.

Who is your team and how are they doing?

Well this week is week #3 of preseason. By next Tuesday teams will be reducing (cutting) their rosters from 90 to 75.

Seahawks polishing up some players in their decision-process.

RGIII for the Skins will not play today (now) against the Bills, but some think he'll be ready for Game #1. If not Rex Grossman is at the helm.

As I've debated / discussed with other members elsewhere, I personally do not see RGIII every returning to what he once was. His last injury was his second and he tore an ACL and LCL. The game is too brutal to avoid another injury again.

all signs point towards RG3 being available to play during Washington's Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Griffin III has an uphill battle, as teams will game plan for his dynamic skill set. More importantly, RG3 will be forced to perform at an elite level after facing one of the most devastating injuries in all of professional sports.

With that being said, Griffin has every tool necessary to shine.

As someone who has had major ACL reconstruction I would have to agree. These are serious injuries and for a speedster like RGIII it will affect his speed and ability to make cuts not to mention the probability for re-injury.

He's good although since Hank Williams Jr. was run-off, it hasn't been the same...

Well, if we really want to get down to it, there hasn't been a better Monday Night Football announcer than the late/great Howard Cosell!

I have been catching up on the Seahawks.

SF will be good and tough. To get to the Super Bowl the Hawks have to win the division, IMO.

    First game, SF @ Seattle.

    Gonna be wild!

How did you tear your ACL, bsnub, if ya don't mind me asking.

I first tore it at a punk rock show when I was 21. I severed it for good a few years later when I worked as an appliance delivery man. I was pulling a large refrigerator up three flights of stairs when she tore. My knee was instantly the size of a grapefruit.

I played football for many years in School and was only hurt twice. I pulled hamstring and a pinched nerve in my shoulder that still dogs me today.

Seahawks and Bengals ... Not too far fetched of an idea they could meet in the SB.

Last two years they've made the playoffs with the addition of a really good QB and an outstanding WR ... And now they might have a running game.

They haven't been able to get by the Texans the last two years in the playoffs but they've improved each year.

The AFC is weak right now and a few breaks here there they might get lucky.

This is my favorite part of the season- the short period of time before the Jets and Giants massively disappoint me (which usually happens around November).

How can you have any integrity as a fan and root for both?

'Integrity as a fan?' Are you serious?

I would like to see them both have good seasons, and I'll watch any games either team plays in- I wasn't aware I was violating the rules of fandom by doing that.

If it makes you feel any better, if they both make it to the Superbowl I'll root for the Jets.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Same as mine I think ... One AFC and one NFC team and when push comes to shove he goes with the Jets and I'd have to go with the Seahawks ...

bsnub, I hope an assume your knee is pain free now.

As for the Seahawks, I was wrong: first game Sep 8 is at NC Panthers. The second game on Sept 15 is 49ers at home.

More cuts coming as the roster goes to 53 in a few days.

I'm mucking up this thread with a distraction. Here is another (vomit inducing) Rolling Stone article on Hernandez and some think he get a lessor conviction because of the evidence so far.

Hard to say, but you know how the US court system can produce surprising results.

    Prosecutors do often over-charge.

Paul Solotaroff: ‘Aaron Hernandez Grossly Overcharged’

Aaron Hernandez will be back in the NFL in three or four years.
    Possibly.

“I think (the case) is not only beatable, (but) I think he will be back in the nfl within three or four years,” Rolling Stones contributing editor Paul Solotaroff said on The Doug Gottlieb Show. “I think they’ve grossly overcharged him based on the case they’re building – no direct eye witness, no murder weapon (and) no plausible motive.”

Rolling Stone this week released a story, written by Solotaroff, that traces Hernandez’s path from troubled youth to troubled college player to troubled pro – all the way to a troubled man facing murder charges in the death of Odin Lloyd.

If what I am hearing is correct, RGIII will be starting in game #1 against the Eagles.

And Dr. Andrews recommends he is "used in a different way."

Perhaps an Option Read Offense with more running for the side lines are going down than these long runs down field like last year.

As I've said, I see a re-injury as a strong possibility for young Robert.

I do not watch preseason since it is a time to try out all those prospects wanting a spot on the team and it doesn't really reflect the full capability of the team and where it stands. It is difficult to get down to the number required and I hate to see guys killing each other to make the team.

Once the season starts, I am in full swing, including Fantasy Football. I cheer for all the CA teams, but the Raiders have been my team for over 40 years because I like their smashmouth brand of football. If I had to pick a team that would go to the Superbowl, it would be SF. Since I am currently about 300 miles from San Francisco, being a fan becomes easier even though Oakland is just across the bay.
