"Somos". A new 6 part drama from Netflix, for fans of such series as 'Narcos'. A dramatisation of real events that took place in the Mexican border town of Allende in 2011, when scores of inhabitants were massacred by members of a Cartel. Spanish with English subtitles.

harriet , harriet , my sensitive little flower - no I do not know he who gave it 6/10

I watched it and would grudgingly give it a 7 - it was a little grandiose , but reasonable to pass the time

not really that much of a story and it seemed to be in a rush to try to tie up the loose ends

    The Tomorrow War (Amazon)

I can see why it was expensive and I can also see why Paramount bottled it and flogged it to Amazon instead.

I mean it's OK but it's a bit fucking cheesy and cliche ridden.

And it looks like they couldn't think of an ending and someone wrote one to slap on.

Just finished Bridgerton. A series. More of a chick flick but it was relaxing.

it is absolute twaddle - you need to be a bit pissed to sit through it - though I am not sure it is enough to make it to the end

There's sort of two endings, so you could do one and come back for the other later.

I listened to the whole thing but there were a few times I got up to grab a snack. Also fast forwarded through some bits. Glad I didn't pay to watch it. Although in a cinema one is sort of captive so maybe...

No . For the hard of understanding , I was alluding to not watching the whole thing.

If one wears ear buds or head phones while watching, one is free to roam the house.

For the Brits: I watched a bit of the first episode. What's with all the black folks? Comments on historical accuracy welcome.

A lot are asking the same question. Of course it's about 'woke' inclusiveness. In another recent series, an black actress played Anne Boleyn, one of Henry VIII's wives. If I didn't know better, I swear that the UK was in Africa as depicted in TV commercials.

I understand the motives for this, and production companies have the right to make their own decisions.

The actors are doubtless talented people and deserve opportunities.

I'm just personally not interested in a black Anne Boleyn or an Indian David Copperfield.

I just about managed to maintain my belief in 'Les Miserables' despite the black chief of police and the presence of an Indian family, since they weren't major characters.

I read somewhere 'Well, they've had a Caucasian playing Jesus for 2,000 years without a problem'.

So I don't have any dispute on principle, I just tend not to watch these things.

Bridgerton seems to be pappy sub-Jane Austen material that I wouldn't watch anyway.

    The Battle for Sevastopol (1944)

    bfs.jpg

    IMDB Summary:

"Produced right after the Red Army threw out the Germans in 1944, this stunning epic of gritty combat action is a most gripping battle documentary. Drawing upon footage from 19 Soviet cameramen---and made under the guidance of Soviet director Stalin laureate V.N. Beliaev---they capture the tumultuous Eastern Front in many different angles and views, bringing vividly to life the mighty struggle of war between Nazi and Red Armies.

The film is also a searing visual record of both the grisly Nazi atrocities uncovered by the Red Army on its liberation of the city plus the gruesome deaths of enemy soldiers juxtaposed and ably presented via cinema montage.

The raw reality of war - combat not to be missed!"

Anybody remember which is better from around 10 years ago, Rome or Spartacus?

Think Rome has 2 seasons and Spartacus has 4.
