We watched that in the cinema last Friday.

The only good thing was the free Haagen-Daz ice cream for the VIP seats.

Yer, nice, spoiler alert, I wonder if he dies and they wrap up the main sub plots in the last episode.

there's a lot going on below the surface in this movie....politics, economics, class, the idea/concept of america, friendship, empathy....
    definitely worth a watch.

Found the story to that really unbelievable.

Don't rate either the book or the series.

    thanks to whoever recommended tehran.

Watched Industry - Piss weak plot, shit acting , unsympathetic characters ( I wanted to punch every single one of them) - other than those small issues it was great...no, irritatingly shite.

Warrior, if you like violence and the occasional tit.

Chink tongs, whites, Irish, with a bit of black for a sub plot; opportunity and exploitation go hand in hand, making late 19th c San Francisco not best for the squeamish.

2 seasons in, lots of unfinished business, while the final scene says S3 is coming.

    8.5/10

    Indeed.

    Quite realistic in that sense.

But because of them I didn't stick around long enough to see a plot unfolding.

Maybe it happened after episode three.

Trippy Japanese arthouse film on YouTube in decent 720p with English subtitles
The description has early plot spoilers
Lovely actress ❤ I'd shack up with her.

    Shadow In The Cloud (2020)

So this mysterious female US officer climbs on board a departing WWII bomber with a terribly top secret package, and then sees a mysterious figure on the wing while in flight.

Much mayhem ensues, lots of far fetched silliness in fact, with plot points nicked from the Twilight Zone and Flight, but it passes the time.

if you've been waiting for a feminist, sexual assault revenge fantasy with some comedic moments......then 'promising young woman' could be for you.

it's very good in parts, but somewhat clumsy in others----especially the pharmacy scene.

    The Serpent (TV, 2020)

Excellent dramatization of the crimes of Charles Sobhraj, who preyed on backpackers in the '70s. Most of it is set in Bangkok.

I'd read a bit about him but watching this reminds you of just how easy it must have been for him to get away with it, especially in the days of no CCTV or biometric passports.

    Very well done 8.5/10

but the first 2 episodes have been watchable - though the actions of the cloggy bring to mind the current retardedness of the tanzanian / aussie bint

The Stand has taken this rather odd approach as well. Must be the latest fad. Hopefully will pass quickly.

Sobraj used to hang out a lot in Ngam Duplee and around Bang Rak.

There was no house with a pool where he used to host people and lots of drugs were taken, of course. Too high profile and easy to track down.

He used to materialise in hotel reception areas, and 'bump into' backpackers here and there.

    This book is highly recommended...

That's the cover it had when I read it in BKK nigh on 30 years ago.

The jumps forward and backwards in E01 were excessive. I hope they ease up on that in future episodes.

According to his wiki entry him and his gang were staying at a resort in Pattaya for a while. A bit of artistic license perhaps.

    They don't.

I read about him many years ago - possibly in the Richard Neville book where Sobhraj tells of walking along the beach in Pattaya and seeing lots of parrots and monkeys in the trees.

Agree with some about the back and forth time slips. Blood annoying.

Didn't expect Davis' cousin and victim, Theresa Knowlton, to show up so early in the series. Only seen EP01 so far.
