Love some of the black and whites war movies also, reminds me of Sunday afternoons as a kid. Less action and more plot and characters in those non-CGI days. Been back through some Hitchcock over the last month and forgot how good they were, of their time but enjoyable ntl.

Just finished Diablo Guardian on Amazon Prime (2 seasons). It is a Spanish series, but some Engilsh words and subtitles help.
I enjoyed it 7/10. Lots of sex, drugs, and drama.

Season 3 of Ozark gets top reviews.

But seasons 1 and 2 not so much.

There are 2 minute recap videos of seasons 1 and 2

Just wondering if I should do the recaps and go straight to season 3 or wade through the whole thing from the start.

Would be great if they put together a 60 or 90 minute summary of a season so you could get up to speed in some detail without watching the whole thing.

I watched season 1, which started well and fizzled out badly.

I then skipped season 2 and watched the excellent season 3.

Your plan should work out fine.

Or just watch the first three episodes of season 1 and go direct to season 3.

And that comes from someone who still thinks 12:20 am shouldn't be before 10:33 am

Based on the above I'll skip season 2 and go straight to season 3. Saves me wasting me time. By the way Cyrille don't give up your daytime job.

Rarely watch comedies, but if you like John Candy, "Uncle Buck" has some funny moments.

Found the original Thames TV "The World At War" through a link on Reddit.

16:9 format with dual Persian and English audio.

It's like "The Vietnam War" only about WWII.

I don't know if this is the same thing, I'd start downloading it and then select one episode to see if it's OK.

It's on TPB - I downloaded it about a year ago.

    It's not bad quality.

Stretching from 4:3 to 16:9 makes things a bit wonky at times though.

Although it's not a movie, Listen to this audio from a Lancaster bomber crew on a bombing run over Germany. British stiff upper lip combined with balls of steel.

    'Animal Kingdom'. Excellent.

The series centers on 17-year-old Joshua "J" Cody, who moves in with his freewheeling relatives in their Southern California beach town after his mother dies of a heroin overdose. Headed by boot-tough matriarch Janine "Smurf" Cody and her right-hand Baz, who runs the business and calls the shots, the clan also consists of Pope, the oldest and most dangerous of the Cody boys; Craig, the tough and fearless middle son; and Deran, the troubled, suspicious "baby" of the family.

The World at War isamazing television. I will probably re-watch later in the year.

And thanks for the video clip Jaiyenyen - humbling.]

Makes me feel a little bit silly about my Unsolved: who killed Biggie and Tupac recommendation, currently up on Netflix.

That's the thing, the one I've got isn't stretched. Whether it's the original or cropped I don't know, but it looks OK.

'The Boys' S2 is out Sept 4.

Slight change from its debut season in that it will apparently be a scheduled / weekly release instead of all episodes being made available at once -- not sure what that's about.

Either way I'm really looking forward to it as S1 was great and I still get a kick out of seeing two Kiwi chaps in the lead roles.

I'm four episodes deep into season 1 of 'Yellowstone', and have been quite enjoying it (reviews say it really comes together in season 2- there are several deep plot-points)- 8.4 on IMDb. Kevin Costner stars in it.

    Yellowstone (TV Series 2018– ) - IMDb

Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders - land developers, an Indian reservation, and America's first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny - where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world's largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
