I had no idea they were making it but "Penny Dreadful: City of Angels" drops on April 26th.

    Which is nice.

Nothing gets past you does it, although I would have thought the name might have given it away.

Found a very British series/documentary today, especially for the over 40s.
Called Back in Time for the Corner Shop, it's a look at the evolution of the corner shop from the 50s to the future, set in Sheffield Northern England.
Its only on BBC iPlayer. Set your VPN to the UK, google Back in Time for the Corner Shop, it will give you the option of BBC iPayer select this one.
When you try to open the video it will ask if you have a TV license (of course you do) then it will stream the show. 3 files,

    Extraction (2020, Netflix)

Subcontinental savagery from the Avengers team and the bloke out of Stranger Things.

But should probably be described as a Super Bollywood Smash Action Whopper Thriller (or something).

    Just missing the violins.

    5/10

'better call saul' season 5 wrapped up earlier this week. strong season all around. not sure why it's not more popular.

'westworld' season 3 is moving along nicely....well, as much of it as i can follow anyway. my wife made the very good point that the show runners can pretty much do whatever they like with the plot because none of the viewers are 100% sure what's going on.

we watched 'infernal affairs' and 'the departed' back-to-back last week. the departed is a lot better. case closed. fight me.

The first series was a bit slow for me.Were 2,3 and 4 any good. Just downloaded all of 5 because of the great reviews.

Been watching some family movies with the little un.

Jojo Rabbit was surprisingly good. Directed by some oddball Kiwi, who did Thor Ragnarok. Wouldn't mind seeing some more of his work.

Its not about a rabbit btw but World War 2 and a German boy who is right into the Nazi regime, who has Hitler as an imaginary friend and his mom shelters a Jewish girl. Some powerful moments in it and some great special effects. Really well done. 8/10.

Kindergarden Cop is on now As soon as she falls asleep gonna watch Jim Carreys 2 seasons of 'Kidding'

There's different versions of the 'Back in time..' set.

All worth a look if you liked the corner shop.

Can't remember who recommended this, it is a very funny movie. Political satire at it's best.

Waiting for the finale of the Homeland series should be up any moment now, eight years hoping for a good ending unlike Dexter, Soprano's et al.

Actually enjoying this, it isn't your typical 'aw right guvnor' 'ang abou' 'givin it large' west end east end villains but, an amalgamation of international criminal groups based in London vying to keep their position after an unexpected upheaval to the leadership.

    IMDB rating 8.5

"Frustrated in his attempts to assassinate Yee, who is an important official in Japanese-ruled Shanghai, Old Wu, who has lost his wife and two sons as well as two women who had attempted to seduce Yee, now recruits Kuang, Mai Tai Tai, and their troupe of drama students from Hong Kong University in yet another attempt to do away with Yee.

Mai Tai Tai is chosen to befriend Yee, which she does by posing as the wife of Mak, befriending Yee's wife and her female friends, and then eventually befriending Yee himself. Even though both get together, they do end up going separate ways, only to meet again four years later.

This time Mai is all set to entrap Yee at Chandni Chowk Jewellers which is owned by an East Indian man named Khalid Saiduddin. The question does remain: Will she and her troupe succeed?."

The two leads were on Colbert the other day, and when asked to describe the finale in one word, used "Conclusive-ish" and "Beginning-ish".

If you can get over their invention of new words, that would suggest a spin off or a movie.

Yeah, it seems that it was concluded season 9 would be the last during the screening of the pretty shit season 7, and that things picked up afterwards in seasons 8 and 9.

So the formula can still be squeezed to make more money.

I guess Carrie's behaviour is so unorthodox that she's booted out or quits and goes it alone.

Well, that's what usually happens at the end of a Homeland season anyway.

    Whoops!

I meant just season 8, of course.

    There is no 9.

Anyway, a pretty good finale I reckon.

Homeland finale was decent. Dragged us one way and then the other. I was expecting the obvious at the end but it was good to see that fog of realisation lift from Saul's eyes.

Wondering where the next season of Grand Tour is? Wonder no more...

Apparently they shoot at a ratio of 1000-to-1 which is to say that for every 1,000 hrs filmed it's all edited down into only one!?
