    Peppermint (2018).

Housewife Jennifer Garner's family get killed so she disappears and without any kind of montage or backstory becomes a skilled assassin who spends the rest of the movie wreaking her action-packed revenge.

If you can get past this enormous plot hole, it's the sort of movie you might put on in the background.

    4/10.

E05 is my favourite thus far. You'll know why after watching it.

That said, I'm just about to start e06, so plenty of time for that to change.

More than anything it's worrying that this can happen on such a massive scale...in the US...and still be relatively lightly reported.

It's hard to avoid the conclusion that unfettered capitalism looks after its own.

Despite the slow beginning, best Season of Narcos thus far. Certainly script wise.

Seems to be officially Narcos Mexico Season 1.

So would hint of there being a NM S02.

Reminds me of how far behind I am on everything really.

Still haven't managed to get around to S2 of the original Narcos.

Not being a smartkoont, but checked that the media player has 'subtitles' turned on?

Happens a lot with us as we use Gom Player mainly.

So turn them off for anything English, then with something foreign it's usually:

The fookin' thing doesn't have subtitles.
    Are they turn on.
Of course they are, don't be fookin' stoo.... wait a minute. Ahh, there we go.

    Mandy (2018) starring Nicolas Cage

Don't let the title fool you. This movie is literally an acid trip into hell and back. Very unorthodox, extremely violent and horrific but actually quite well made.

It wasn't the title, as I'm a Nicolas Cage fan, but I checked IMDB, and as you say, horror. Not my cup of tea,

I often end up laughing at the scary parts, having been brought up on seventies presentations of Hammer House of Horror and the the like. Have had to leave cinemas here if there was a Thai film and it showed what the locals think of as frightening. I got 'tutted' at for laughing during that stuff.
Thanks for the heads up anyway.

Not necessarily my cup of tea either but film buffs will find it interesting because it does break new ground cinematically. Inheritance is another strange horror film that came out recently that is well done but will probably not sit well with most average viewers.

"The Little Drummer Girl" by Le Carre. A six-part BBC mini-series. I started it even though I find Le Carre's books extremely slow. The series did not disappoint. Like watching paint dry. I made it through 4/6. Final two episodes are now up, and I downloaded them, then deleted them. Just couldn't face any more of it. Back to "Narcos - Mexico".

I haven't read the book, and it's the far-fetched storyline that I've struggled with from E01 onwards. In particular, the motivation of the female character.

I generally really like the books and the adaptations.

And I don't even have Narcos to turn to.

'It was a war...but there were no tanks'.

    Just dismally written.

This belongs nowhere else on this forum so.....

Lee Child the author of the 'Jack Reacher' series of novels -- upon which the films are based -- has just revealed who the protagonist is based on: former England rugby player Lawrence Dallaglio.

He also said that he smokes pot five times per week. So there's that.

He also fairly recently said, in news that will please quite a lot of people, that Tom Cruise is finished as Jack Reacher.

I always thought David Morse would make a good Reacher.
