Have finally got around to house of cards. Took ages for me to get into it but now am hooked.
Wentworth is as good as before.
Veep is funny enough.
The Americans is brilliant.

the brothers grimsby ......... don't waste the bandwidth !
Watch the original British one first. Its only i think 4 series of 4 episodes.Originally Posted by MeMock
Yes, well the brit. version is o-l-d. I can imagine it hasn't aged that well.
I don't suppose many of us have watched much tv from 1990 lately.
The budget available to the US version makes them pretty much impossible to compare.
Theres not much difference on imdb between the 2.An 8.7/10 vs a 9/10.
I loved the Brit one. I havent really got into the American one yet. Although ive only watched 3 episodes.
I watched a couple of episodes of 'Derek' last night. A Ricky Gervais series on Netflix.
It was shit.
It has its moments, but in general, yes, not very fucking good at all. There's creating the classic flawed character and there's pretending to be mentally disabled.Originally Posted by AntRobertson
Watched the fourth season of House of Cards. Took a while to come to the boil, and even when it did it was a bit shit - certainly not as good as the previous three.
There's also a very good documentary which was originally aired on BBC2 called Burma's Secret Jungle War. A two-part travel show exploring the furthest reaches of Burmese undergrowth. Both parts are available on KAT.
And finally today, a quick masterclass in the art of boxset viewing...
I've spent the last week reacquainting myself with the events of Game of Thrones season five. I downloaded and watched with interest as various people got beaten and battered and beheaded and buggered. Episode eight of the sixth season has just aired and if I start watching later this week I should be able to watch the entire season culminating in a live finale in consecutive days. This way, as well as avoiding spoilers, you are also entered onto a shortlist of one of the best television watchers on the planet. You can actually put it on your CV...
Strengths:
Good at watching television.
That's exactly what I was thinking but unfortunately my ability to articulate my thoughts on films/TV is also shit.Originally Posted by somtamslap
Compare that Idiot Abroad dude's character to the Gervais one. Sure Idiot Abroad dude is basically just playing to the same thing but it's definitely funnier.
Penny Dreadful, anyone seen it?
Got 8.2/10 on IMDB
^^Still running. ^No.
Yeah, I looked and still 2 episodes to air.
I'm DLing Penny Dreadful now, if it finishes before I have to leave and I get around to watching it I'll let you all know what I think....
Got a lot to catch up on!
Just finished S02 of The Fall.
Pretty taut drama. Well sustained with a great turn from the young gentle-mannered family-man killer Jamie Dornan.
I found Gillian Anderson to be a bit hard work as the expressionless-faced police-person laying it on a bit thick in her 'trying to be an man in a skirt' role.
Vikings is crackling good fun. Just about finished season 2.
Game of Thrones... usual shit innit... got to episode six before anything happens.
Was quite good though... just two episode left... until the next season.
The second half of GoT is definitely better than the first half this current season- I quite enjoyed the last few episodes.
There's still way too much going on to advance so many story lines in less than ten total hours (per season) of airtime, though- there are characters we don't see for three episodes as there's no time to fit them in.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
HST
Has the 2nd episode of Top Gear been aired yet, or has it been canned already?
Good lord the first week was bad.
#3 is already out- it's getting a bit better than the debut episode would lead you to think it could be- the original show wasn't built in a day as far as the format and host cohesion was concerned, so I'll give them a season to see what they end up with before passing final judgment. Even as an American I'm still a bit jarred by Leblanc's inclusion (the non-Limey accent is off-putting), though he's trying his best.
Clarkson et al will be debuting their new show in the fall, which will likely be the same as the old TG.
I've only seen the first series.Originally Posted by jizzybloke

Yeah, I downloaded it and it's now in the 'CIBB' (Can I be bothered?) file and struggling to get out.

Great news, I love that show!
