My sister has recommended the following British crime drama/thriller thingies. Haven't watched them yet, but if you like that ilk, perchance you may peruse them. Except Baldrick. Baldrick just moan now and save yourself the time.

    Ellis
    Clean Sweep
    DI Ray

Thanks for all your links good to have some entertainment laid up alone for another week until boss returns from Tokio

    That much is true.

Yes I think that's what she means.

Clean Sweep & Before (Until) I Kill You I have not watched but apparently Anna Maxwell Martin, a regular on UK TV screens, puts in an excellent performance in Until I Kill You.
Ellis is a new series. Two 90 minute episodes, each a complete story, have so far hit the screens. Pretty formulaic, certainly watchable, but unexceptional.
DI Ray featuring a female South Asian detective has just finished Season 2. Again pretty formulaic. I thought Season 1 was OK, but Season 2 better. Again watchable but unexceptional. Each season of 6 episodes features 1 storyline. Watchable but unexceptional

While on the subject of "crime drama/thriller thingies", two more to consider.

The Gone - a 10 episode joint RTE/NZ effort based in New Zealand. A Irish cop and a NZ look for an Irish couple who have gone missing in rural NZ. As the series progresses there are links to historic murders and Irish gangs in Dublin.
Season 1 was OK 6.5/10 but again nothing new. Season 2 is halfway through - OK so far

A Remarkable Place to Die - A NZ series where a successful Sydney based homicide detective returns to her hometown after the death of her father and sister and solves crimes. Each 90 minute episode is self contained with what looks like an underlying storyline running through the whole series (The apparent suicide of her sister) Again relatively predictable based on the one episode that I have watched (a second is out there), but for me is saved by the spectacular scenery in and around Queenstown

If you want to see what $120 million, extreme vanity and a splattering of senility gets you, Megalopolis is now available for streaming.

Just a word of warning, my friend and I watched it in the cinema and at the end turned to each and almost simultaneously uttered "What the fuck was that?!".

The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth

Hard to believe the mess that is Megalopolis! How could it go so wrong? The actors were outstanding but that disjointed story was for the birds. It was really discombobulated. I can’t even say it was beautiful.

I thought Bad Monkey was just a terrible excuse for Vince Vaughan to try his deadpan "wit".

    Failed miserably.

Eric, ran out of steam after two episodes.

Day of the Jackal I'm going to try and hold on to binge the second half - first half was top notch.

I thought "Cross" was just OK
It might have been my copy but they could have done with turning on a light or two.

I thought "Blue Lights" a police procedural set in Belfast was good. So far 2 seasons have been released and I understand that seasons three and four are on their way

A decent movie with Demi Moore in, apart from 'A Few Good Men' when her involvement was mercifully limited?

Is it a chick flick or one for the Under-12s?

New style of Alan Partridge series coming soon!

The new BBC One series "And Did Those Feet... With Alan Partridge" is currently filming in the South of England. This six-part documentary, featuring Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge, will explore mental wellness.

In the series, Alan returns to Norfolk after a year in Saudi Arabia, facing questions about himself and the country. Alan aims to understand what's missing in his life and why the nation is struggling, declaring: "I'm Alan Partridge, and I'm not OK."

Filming began last week, and the series promises to deliver Alan's unique take on personal and national well-being.

Will be interesting to see how this turns out #comedyofbritain #britishcomedy
    Shalom

I must have been a remake as my Mrs watched about 10 mins, said she knew the story and went to sleep.

I asked her what happened in the morning and she recounted it pretty much exactly.
