Loudermilk - finally got round to watching some of it, admittedly 6 years late. Some genuinely funny scenes. Love the Snub cameo

    7.5/10

    Premise

Sam Loudermilk, a former music critic and a recovering alcoholic, is a substance abuse counselor and support group leader living in Seattle, who regularly doles out clever but acid-tongued critiques to his clients, his friends, and any random person he interacts with. Loudermilk, who does not have his life together in the way one might expect of a counselor, is somewhat nicer to the few people close to him, including his best friend and (usually) sober sponsor, Ben Burns, and his sponsee and unplanned roommate, Claire Wilkes.

The Zone of Interest (Movie, 2023)

It's got a powerful message and the imagery and sound are stunning, but I can't help that think the writer and director thinks the plot is secondary to that.

    It isn't.

thankfully I decided to check it out as it could have been a sc-fi, rom-co, anime, comedy or any other genre.

    A fantastic Julia Roberts rompy-pompy Rom-Com.

worth a download for popcorn and pillow fight night with the girls.

I took the opinion that to give away the actual subject matter would rather detract from contrasting dramatic effect of the opening scenes.

But, you know, go ahead and spoil it for everyone.

As expected, 'True Detective' ladeled on the supernatural aspect of the series in bucket loads in its utterly absurd conclusion.

I've seen Roger Moore as James Bond in movies that were more believable.

Oh well - at least it was only six episodes long, which is barely an introduction to most US series.

That made it not quite as bad as Chris Rock's stint in 'Fargo', another TV franchise where the name seems to just be used to guarantee an audience for the first few episodes.

I thought that series 4 of True Detective was equal to series 2 and better than series 3, imho. All were a good way behind series 1.

Funnily enough, I just finished Fargo series 4, and Chris Rock's performance is on a par with his jokes - not good. The other black comedian fella, who I don't find particularly funny... was pretty good in the earlier Fargo series. I'm gonna start watching series 5 and hope it's better than the last couple (1&2 were good).

Also, just watched the first Constellation - it seems to have promise, so I'll start the second.

With the same comedian, just watched the 4th episode, series 2, of Halo - not good, but I keep on watching.

Have kept up with the series releases of Sexy Beast - it's crap. Watched the film a couple of nights ago with a couple of mates, and it's on another level; not really even worth attempting a series. I doubt I'll bother watching the final episodes.

Criminal Record just finished and was, errrr, ok, not spectacular, but better than most that's around at the moment. Trite and cliched...

    Isn't Dune 2 out soon?

Also, isn't that Tom Cruise trying to be James Bond, latest film, part 2 out soon?

There's a lot of options at the moment. The quantity is high, but the quality is mostly poor, imho.

Britaniaca123: quality comment, as always, Sir. No doubt, you were delighted he died early on the show.

    Utter pants.

Another example of a good movie/series having its name used to get us interested in a total pile of ____.

Dune2 is getting very good reviews.

Happily, the pile of _____ there was the original, with Sting in his winged jock strap.

    The twerp.

    Good luck with that.

I binged watched the 5 Fargo series a few weeks ago. For me it was all downhill after the first series, which I enjoyed

Similar to the True Detective franchise. First series good the others not so much

    I'd agree with that.
I thought that it would have been better.

Somewhat unfortunately for me Peter Capaldi is typecast as Malcolm Tucker and I expect him to launch into a stream of verbal abuse in every scene

Dune 2 finishes the actual novel quite nicely.

The Thai friends of course were "Huh?" because they don't know how many books there are

Lots of dark skinned people in this too.

Just binge watched all 4 episodes of this highly addictive series.

Some great northern English actors and gritty story line with a happy ending..

The Outfit currently on Netflix is worth everyone’s time. A crime drama with plenty of twists and turns to keep you engaged.

At last something bingeworthy worth watching!

This series by Guy Ritchie is a cross between Breaking Bad and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels .

Loads of well known actors with an entertaining story and amusing acting, highly watchable.

I'm into episode 3 of 8 already, each episode is over an hour.

    Enjoy!

    The Gentlemen.
