M'Sahib and I are half way through watching the 8 part series, "Julia", which chronicles the career of Julia Childs as a pioneer of television cooking shows in the US, bringing the principles of French cuisine to the masses. Sarah Lancashire, the English actress, is outstanding in the role of Julia, in what is an excellent production. Though I am, you don't have to be interested in cooking to appreciate what is great family television.

There's a new Star Trek TV series ("Strange New Worlds").

It's based on Captain Pike, who was played so abysmally in the original pilot that even William Shatner was considered an improvement.

I have this urge to shout "Don't tell him Pike".

M'Sahib had previously asked me to download this, and we watched it last night. First 'Bollywood' movie I can recall watching, and whilst not tempted to become a fan of the genre, this was OK. Perhaps it's the brothel setting that got me through it.

Meanwhile, just finished another decent series, "10 Percent", an Amazon re-make of a French series, 'Call My Agent'. Set in a London theatrical agency, the agents and their assistants scramble to cosset and maintain their clients. Decent cast, with a feature of each of the 8 episodes being the inclusion of well known actors (Helen Bonham-Carter, Dominic West, David Harewood etd), playing themselves within the context of the episode storyline. Might not be 'macho' enough for some of our members, however within the context of 'light entertainment' it's OK.

"One For The Road". Just watched this with M'Sahib. It's a Thai movie, with the story being that of a Thai New York bar owner who finds out his buddy back in Thailand has a terminal illness. He decides to return home for one last road trip together. Not a bad movie, and I'm sure will please a lot of other M'Sahibs out there.
