The women added to England's football and cricket commentary teams all seem to be excellent.

Now if only someone would strangle Jamie Redknapp...

episode 8 was a bit less dreadful as they are going to Mars, so no much time for father daughter drama, but still managed to make 30min of it

trashed the whole folder, another fine recommendation by Harry

    Searching (2018)

An interesting premise - the whole movie is filmed through the eyes of someone using electronic devices: TV, Smartphone, Computer, Webcam, etc.

It took 13 days to film and two years to finish.

Behind it is a fairly basic whodunnit about a father whose daughter goes missing, but I liked the concept. A sort of 6/10 watchable.

Note to Luigi: It's got no Mars in it.

basically a personal story about relationships !!!

I loved The Tree Of Life.

Much better than Mallick's more recent incoherent dross.

What TV show are these comments referring to?

Have to agree. Knight of Cups was unwatchable. Thin Red Line, Badlands, The New World were excellent.

...just saw the Bradley Cooper remake of A Star is Born: strong performances by Cooper and Lady Gaga, though the film would have benefited from a good 20 minutes less of maudlin sobbing...the surprise was Cooper's singing voice, though Lady Gaga did much of the heavy lifting in that department. Overall an enjoyable film that will almost certainly be nominated for a number of Oscar categories (music, direction)...

    Await Further Instructions (2018)

A typical Christmas family fight goes awry when they find themselves locked in their house with all the doors and windows blocked by a mysterious black substance.

Then the TV comes up with "Stay at home and await further instructions".

The message changes and it goes gory.

    Then the ending....

Mother of fucking god, someone must have hijacked the script and said "We can make this shittier, hold my beer".

    2/10 Spare yourselves.

I'm a few episodes into Norsemen. A comedy based on the vikings with a pretty good humour about it. It was filmed in Norway by Norwegians so the accents hold up. They filmed every scene in Norwegian and English, which was bloody good of them if you ask me.

    Lang may yer lum reek...

"Tunes Of Glory" (1960). Powerful movie in which Alec Guinness gives an exceptional performance as the up-from-the-ranks Acting Colonel of a Highland Regiment being replaced by an Oxford-educated new Colonel (John Mills) in the post-WW2 period. Unit pride and history, PTSD, and lessons in leadership. Not to be missed. IMDB 7.7; I'd go 8.5. Slow download as few seeders, but well worth the wait.

As it was a TD recommendation, I watched a few minutes of the first episode. Truly horrific in its stupidity. Appalling. A resounding 0. What were they thinking?

I have to agree with Davis. After having watched Vikings, which was quite good, this was a let down and maybe a stronger constitution than Davis or maybe I was more bored, I could only tolerate 15 or so minutes. Gave it a go, but 15 minutes was all I could take.

    Classic Scifi from Rarbg:

    The Andromeda Strain (1971)

A creditable adaptation of Michael Crichton's book about a group of scientists trying to unlock the secrets of an alien virus.

They did try and remake it as a miniseries but it didn't work.

    8/10

Can't really compare, it's more of a tongue in cheek caper that would be closer to Monty Python than Vikings. Although it hasn't really got any better or worse so I'll finish it off since it's only 6 30min episodes.

I'm going to try The Haunting of Hill House next.

It's being talked about, reviews and ratings are high, and an old school pal of mine who is known as a bit of a hard man has just put up a fb post saying it's freaking him the fuck out. "On episode 3 actually nearly shat the bed there"

If you like true crime stories, "Criminal Confessions" isn't bad so far. I've watched the first two episodes of season 2. Pretty well done. On 1337x.to. Season 1 is also there, but appears to have zero seeders for most episodes.
