SeeSaw - If you love TV
You may remember Mark Beaumont, who broke the record for pedalling around the world, is back on the road attempts to journey Alaska, USA to Ushuaia, in southern Argentina; cycling the length of the Rockies and Andes, 13,000 miles through 12 countries. Mark sets off near Anchorage, Alaska and is treated to an impromptu prayer session with the locals in a remote burger bar where he is topping up the 6,000 calories he needs each day to keep going.

a very good and rather short but highly recommended travelling programme
Blood and Oil
Just happened to see this on TV the other night.
Four oil workers are kidnapped from an oil installation in a remote part of the Niger Delta, Nigeria. One of them is Mark Unwin. Back in the UK, his wife Claire is assured by his employers Krielson International that his speedy release is just a formality.
Mend, the militant group responsible, depend on the ransoms to finance their operation - so the workers are always returned alive and in good health.
Nonetheless, Claire travels to Nigeria - against the advice of the Foreign Office.
Krielson PR exec Alice Omuka is given the task of managing Claire until her husband is returned.
When a ransom is agreed and details for the hostage handover arranged, Alice suggests that Claire could come along. Some shots of the joyful reunion between Mark and Claire would be great PR, she argues - and Krielson agree.
But after journeying deep into the creeks to the wellhead at the handover point, they are greeted by the most gruesome and macabre sight imaginable - the bodies of Mark and his co-workers, fly-blown and oil-spattered, hanging from the wellhead.
its a 2 part series which runs are 80 mins each. one of the best drama's i've seen on UK TV.
9/10 [and that's for episode 1, 30 mins in !]
Try The Inbetweeners. Bloody hilarious British comedy.
A divx-enabled DVD player costs f all these days - the cheap AJ brand players they have at Tesco will do the trick.
If you want something a little more sophisticated, look at getting one of these:
WD TV Live
Xtreamer
Mede8er
Popcorn Hour A-200
They support pretty much everything you can imagine. Only the odd file out of hundreds will not play.
Or you can get an ASRock 330 and install XBMC on it...

America Unchained
A really good documentary from Dave Gorman
Basically Dave wants to see if it's possible to drive across America from the west coast to the east coast without giving any money to "The Man". That is to not buy gas at, eat food at, or sleep at any big chain gas stations, restaurants and hotels, instead only doing the previously mentioned at 'Mom & Pop' places that are family run or independently run.
It's an interesting look at how small town America is being swallowed up by big time corporations, and a big part of unique American culture is dying off as the public accepts becoming homogenised in greater and greater aspects of their lives.
What makes this documentary good is it isn't political. No corporate names are brought up in criticism to serve an agenda, but only brought up as an example of a place Dave doesn't want to give money to because it's not a 'Mom & Pop' business, and because it is often devoid of charm and character due to the uniformity of the chains. Waking up in a generic room at a Best Western Hotel tells you nothing of where you actually are in the world as a room in New York and a room in Istanbul could be completely interchangeable.

and Long way down.
Long Way Down - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Long way round is better, but both extremely well produced and interesting series.
It appears Demonoid is down again:
Demonoid Faces Major Downtime Once Again | TorrentFreak
Sorry to disagree, but I thought Charley & Ewan came across as a right pair of twats.
The climax in S.Africa was just pathetic, it wasn't a climax.
I've had more drama biking around my neighbourhood.
I agree with the second sentence.
Altogether TLR was much better than TLD.
Farenuff mate, I never bothered with LWR.

We might have to shut down everything to fix and prevent further damage,” said a Demonoid statement, “days maybe, until we can change the power circuit.” This comes as the tracker is struggling to stay alive after some serious legal disputes in recent years that forced Demonoid owners to move camp up to three times until now.
That didn’t last any longer after the local CRIA anti-piracy group forced Demonoid to shut down its operations there too. Demonoid is still under scrutiny from major recording and entertainment companies around the Globe for its lite policy against copyrighted material, a scrutiny that it has managed to fend off until now with greater success than other rivals like Mininova, Pirate Bay or IsoHunt.

Northern Exposure (1990-'95)
A newly graduated doctor is required to set up his practice in an eccentric Alaskan town.
One of the best TV shows ever, IMO.

for Thai food lovers that can pretty much eat the food of Thailand, think again, unless you already have that is.
ive eaten most things in Thailand and its only gone as far as bugs in Bangkok but watching this show really turned my stomach. Mind you, i think if they showed cutting a Vietnamese snake open and eating the heart would give the same kind of feeling, but i have still eaten it.
but would i eat the raw meat and dip it in fluid which sits in the leg joint of a recently dead cow?
anyway, download this guys and watch BEFORE your meal

Boorman does his own thing in 'By Any Means' where he uses various modes of transport to get from the UK to Aus. There's a 2nd one from Aus to Tokyo.Originally Posted by Chairman Mao
Not as good as the Long Way series as there's no grinning fool to spar with, but worth watching nonetheless.
Ah cheers, remember hearing about that.
Will DL it.
The new 'V' series is awesome. Download from eztv.it.

Agree totally about the long way down/long way down series..preferred Way Down myself, McGregor is a bit of a ponce in both although he nearly starts crying round every other corner in Way Round..Originally Posted by Chairman Mao
If you like these, check out By Any Means and By Any Means 2...Charley Boorman goes it alone this time with his producer and 'good mate' Russ Whassisname, first series from Ireland to Sydney, second from Sydney to Tokyo...damn fine viewing..
Oops..Just seen Marmite's post about it above..nevermind, worth a couple of mentions...agree with the Palin documentaries also..can't go wrong with travel programs..trying to get hold of a copy of Mondo Enduro, got great reviews..
Luther
A dark psychological crime drama starring Idris Elba as Luther, a man struggling with his own terrible demons, who might be as dangerous as the depraved murderers he hunts.
A six part series.
Always thought Idris Elba was fantastic in The Wire, so its great to see him back.
Good show.
Torrents available on thebox and BBC Iplayer in UK.
"The supreme irony of life is that hardly anyone gets out of it alive."
Sounds like an English Dexter.
Talking of which, I just watched the 4th season back to back, with John Lithgow guesting.
Fantastic as ever and WHAT a bloody ending to set up Season 5.
If you haven't seen Dexter, download from season 1-4 and watch from the beginning.
One of the best things Showtime ever produced.
