Maybe I will do a Pat and recommend an old movie, since James Rebhorn passed away last Friday:
Quote:
The Game (1997)
Directed by David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, Panic Room, The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo).
Starring Michael Douglas, Sean Penn (and James Rebhorn).
Wealthy San Francisco financier Nicholas Van Orton gets a strange birthday present from wayward brother Conrad: a live-action game that consumes his life.
Fuck not recommending any more films, some films just have to be shared
'I saw the devil' a Korean film. It was so good that its must be shared. Very violent, relentless in fact, but a good story and well acted. That's if you watch foreign films, some people are allergic to subtitles.

Subscene do all subtitles if the ones in the torrent file are out of sync (sometimes they are) but this ones fine.Quote:
Plot: Kyung-chul (Choi Min-sik) is a dangerous psychopath who kills for pleasure. He has committed infernal serial murders in diabolic ways that one cannot even imagine and his victims range from young women to even children. The police have chased him for a long time, but were unable to catch him. One day, Joo-yeon, daughter of a retired police chief becomes his prey and is found dead in a horrific state. Her fiance Soo-hyun (Lee Byung-hun), a top secret agent, decides to track down the murderer himself. He promises himself that he will do everything in his power to take bloody vengeance against the killer, even if it means that he must become a monster himself to get this monstrous and inhumane killer.
The Game is on my 'haven't watched yet' list, has been for weeks, I got a backlog of about 50 films to watch. that's why its 8.41am and i still haven't gone to bed.
^ I Saw the Devil is fucking brutal. Kim Jee Woon, same guy that made The Good the Bad and the Weird and A Bittersweet Life as well as A Tale of Two Sisters. A Bittersweet Life in particular is highly recommended. TGTBATW a lot of fun and A Tale of Two Sisters, probably seen by a lot of people already as it was a relatively big hit, a very good horror film.
well you don't have to watch it
I saw the devil - Brutal, nasty, maybe overly so but I really enjoyed it.
The man from nowhere - OK but pretty light, not much substance
Thirst - Kang-Ho Song is one of my favourite actors and he's brilliant in this plus it's Chan Wook Park who has never drawn a stupid breath, the Revenge Trilogy is still just about as good as Asian cinema gets
Memories of murder - My favourite Korean film. Kang Ho Song again is brilliant. A good more meditative companion piece to go alongside The Chaser. The director, Joon Ho Bong made some of my other favourites from Korea as well in The Host, a monster movie, and Mother which may have been mentioned before. Need to catch up with Snowpiercer his American film.
A Bittersweet life - As I said, excellent film. Some great violence.
Lost Memories - Never heard of this. Will look it up.
The Yellow Sea - Not a patch on The Chaser (by the same director you may have already gathered) but a good watch nonetheless, you get that running stuff again, perhaps too much actually, it gets a bit silly.
Dirty Carnival - Never heard of this either. Added to a list of stuff I'll get around to then.
I've watch a few Korean films and now I'm addicted. Not much coming out from Hong Kong, and I hate the sound of mandarin, which now seems to be the prevalent language now rather than cantonese which is gentler on the ears. I've liked the few Japanese films I've seen but will swot up on my actors & directors and watch a bit more. Thai cinema is simply laughable in comparison.
Gonna check out the 2007 HK film 'Mad Detective' apparently highly recommended stars one of my favourite actors Lau Ching Wan, the sexy Kelly Lin and the ever entertaining fat guy Lam Suet. directed by Johnny To & Wai Kar Fai. And thank fuck it's in cantonese.
Dirty Carnival - synopsis from imdb:
Was gonna watch it but I been up all night watching other films and now it's 10am and I must get some sleepQuote:
Byung-du is a 29-year-old career criminal, working for the middle-rank enforcer Sang-chul. Burdened with a terminally ill mother and taking care of younger siblings, Byung-du is feeling financial pressure as a substitute patriarch. When the big boss President Hwang is cornered by a corrupt prosecutor, Byung-du volunteers for a whack job and wins the big man's trust. However, his real trouble begins when friend Min-ho, an aspiring movie director, asks him to be a consultant for the latter's debut film.
^ Photographer still practising getting a 'glamorous' pose there.
Right up the jacksy in a pair of industrial strength knickers maybe doesn't quite do it. :)
there's no pleasing some people,- that's just what Jesus said.
She's 39. I see english women of the same age, many look awful and wrinkled round the eyes
That 2nd photo is Kelly actually on my bed just before she woke up the other day. Breakfast was a disaster when I realised I'd forgotten to buy milk for our Corn Flakes but she was ok about it
Here's an interesting one, not for everyones tastes. Not to be watched during mealtimes.
Dumplings (2004) Directed by fruit Chan, stars Bai Ling

Quote:
"Dumplings" tells the tale of a former doctor, who operates a dumpling shop from her home with a secret youth creating ingredient. This film explores some disturbingly probable themes, especially how far people will go to reclaim their youth. Definitely not for the squeamish, or easily disturbed. To some this topic will be upsetting.
I didn't quite get Mad Detective, the confusion pissed me off after a while.
Here's a good one, brilliantly violent:
22 Bullets aka L'immortal. Jean Reno is a retired gangster who gets shot and refuses to die...Good lead female cop, feisty. European women have something english women simply haven't got and never will have!
In French with english subs in the file too.
22 Bullets (2010) 720p BrRip x264 - YIFY (download torrent) - TPB
Typically, the hilarious Rotten Tomatoes trolls clearly don't want anyone to see it. In fact, I no longer bother reading that, sometimes I might browse imdb but never take them as gospel. This film don't need a review anyway.
From the producers of Taken but that abomnation of a film has nothing on this.
A Dirty Carnival (2006) Good Korean gangster Drama/Thriller
Worth 2hrs of anybodys time...

I gave a positive review to a movie a few weeks ago and you commented that this meant I wanted you to watch it.Quote:

And all this is apparently imputed from reviews that you 'no longer bother reading'?
Most odd.
Another weird thing to say.Quote:
