Here I'm looking at Transmission stats. My overall Ratio is 1.61. I am not a leech.

I am currently seeding Doctor Who S04e07 tracked by TheBox. I am seeding to zero peers. My ratio for this torrent is 0.01.

I am also seeding NCIS s05e16. Currently with zero peers, but a ratio of 0.66. Not bad, but this is a public tracker. Damn.

I am downloading NCIS s05e17. This one tracked by Demonoid. 10 peers; downloading at 0.9 KBs. Uploading at 0.0 KBs.

So, I figure I'll find a popular torrent with lots of seeders and lots of leeches. I pick The Office Series 1. According to the listing on TheBox this one had 50 seeders and lots and lots of leeches. I'm figuring this will get my ratio up even though I've never watched the show and have no idea what it's about.

Based on a couple of days of experience I do better, both downloading and seeding, with public trackers rather than private.

Even using RSS feeds to pick up instantly the popular soaps I cannot seed back 1.1 at the box. It doesn't matter anyway cos they are FREE.

The Office has many episodes so a lot of people who show as leechers are probably really seeding one or two episodes only and are therefore not going to dowmload from you.

If something has been snatched 100's of times then you aire not going to seed back much if anything.

The top 3 snatched torrents are all 'free' 1000+ times.

Dr Who has been snatched 3218 times and has 1000 seeds and 6 leech.

The Box is a lot of messing about until u get to 1.05 ratio.

UK Nova is a pain with their delay until u get 100 points. An example - I d/l'ed some crap called Benidorm 263MB episode and managed to give back 593Mb.

Result is 102 points now with a 0.65 GB margin, so I'm still battling with my ratio, and unable to download stuff purely for pleasure.

BitSoup booted me for 30 days inactivity, fukkin arseholes.

if they are internal torrents, with a decent number of seeds, they come down very fast.

the external torrents tend to be slower.
