Jeez, I've just ploughed thro all 11 pages of this and it just fizzles out.

I'll rev it up a bit

these are private tracker sites (ie you need to register/become member), but the content is quite impressive !

Download speeds are also mind blowing !! - I regularly get up to 300-400Kb/s speeds for individual torrents, and have had Azureus humming at over 1Mb/s
(these are speeds from my Australian ISP)

the file* family are some great sites (membership for filelist is hard to get registered - the other two are fairly easy to get

FileList.org - great for recent released movies, normally better quality than some of the other sites
That link will then direct you to fileporn.org (all full DVD rips !) and filemp3.org (heaps of new release music).
These sites are quite strict with the share ratios, so make sure you seed up (beyond) 100%

my other favourites are mininova, demonoid and aussietorrents.

My computer is slowly crunching through 120Gb of old Dr Who series - all the way back to William Hartnell !!

don't wanna start a new thread, so can u answer here if u can help.
Have just joined Demonoid and on logging in found my ratio was .12 with 128MB up and 1.27GB down before I had even looked at a torrent

is anyone else noticing a huge slowdown of torrents wherever u get them from these last few days?
I use Maxnet 1024/512 but cant get any torrent faster than 10Kbs .
In fact uplaod is quicker.

OK, I'm new to this torrent thing so bear with me. I've downloaded Azureus though I suspect I didn't need to since my Ubuntu OS has it's own bit torrent app. Anyway, I'm trying to download something from myBittorent.com and the little window says that it will take 65 days to complete. The average download speed is around 2 KB/s. It's downloading now but I don't know if this is unusual or is it normal to wait months to download torrent stuff? Is there a way to speed this up?

Find another torrent of the same file, but with more seeders. You always have to make sure there are lots of seeders before you jump on a torrent. If a torrent only has 1-5 seeders it will typically take a really long time for it to complete.

I use torrentportal.com mostly. There are a few really good posters of movies on there, and yes, always search by seeders and health of the torrent, and read the comments by the readers about whether it's reliable.

I've had some complete movies download in less than an hour, and others take 5 days. I've given up on lots of torrents, just ran out of patience. Also, I always do virsus scan on the movie before I open it.

Thanks both for the advice. I just downloaded about 350 MB file and it only took 19 hours . Thing is that it wouldn't play at normal speed and it had no sound though the picture was fine. Don't know if the file (.avi) was bad or my player. I'll have to download a few more to see. Anyone have problems watching torrent stuff with Ubuntu?

and it is less than 2Kbs download. Something is very wrong with P2P here?
