The Century Of The Self (2002) Adam Curtis

The Century of the Self tells the untold and sometimes controversial story of the growth of the mass-consumer society in Britain and the United States. How was the all-consuming self created, by whom, and in whose interests?

4-Part BBC series, can be found at the internet archive, demonoid, etc.
Extremely interesting exploration of psychological aspects of our politics and society.

Also recommended is 2007's The Trap: What Happened To Our Dreams Of Freedom?
3 part series. I just watched part one, which is the best explication/explaination of the Britain's New Labour and America's New Democrat movement that I've ever seen.
    Essential stuff.

Interesting. Apparently Oliver Stone started work on a film about Mai Lai, but it was canceled by the studio. Filming was about to begin in Thailand. This I heard from a local farang who works in the film industry, and was employed to work on the film at one point.

Just watched the first part, and like you say it was gripping stuff. Shame the downloads are slow, as I want to watch the other two now.

Looks good. I just read a book about the first circumnavigators and it was great so this should tie in nice with that. Thanks.

It's worth the wait. I got mine off of a private tracker, on which some of the posters were describing these films as mind-blowing. I thought, "yeah, right," but after watching the entire series, I have to agree.

    Earthlings

Study of the treatment of food production animals - excellent

    Zero

An Italian-made documentary about 9/11 - I've seen them all. This is the best of them.

History Channel (1999) 4-part series, WWII in colour

We've all seen it in B&W. This is not colourized, it's colour footage. Includes scenes never published.

    The God Who Wasn't There

Well-done. An ex-priest devotes years to prove Bible stories were written hundreds of years before Christ's birth, and much more to do with Bible falsehoods that were ripped from preceding religions.

Just caught episode 4 out of 5 of Wonders Of The Solar System on BBC2, wish I'd seen them from the start as it's a classic Sunday evening watch. No idea if it's available for widespread theft but worth looking out for
