Cannon G10 vs Olympus mju 8000 tough

OK guys in the know, I need to buy new camera and I was considering buying one of these two,

    Cannon G10
    or the
    Olympus mju tough 8000

I've read quite a lot about the two cameras but I'm nothing more than a happy
    snapper.

What I would like to know is this.

Are the extra facilities on the Cannon worth the trade off in durability over the
Olympus for a guy like me who isn't so much interested in taking
great pro shots but just wants to take good easy shots.

I've a mischievous toddler who's into everything which is also consideration.

    Thanks everyone

I honestly believe that any new camera will take decent shots and if you're not inclined to fiddle with the settings, one of the more compact, less adjustable cameras may give you better results, so you may want to look at some of the 'less able' cameras too.

I just bought a load of these for use by kids in remote schools in the Northern Territory.

According to our tech people they're the best on the market as far as durability/results.

They're going to be used by Aboriginal primary school kids in various places, desert and coastal. The folks, allegedly, in the know said that these were the ones to buy.

    Up to you but.
