Based on those pics of Hoagy Carmichael I would suggest Christian Bale as another alternative.

I think he might be capabale of bringing an edgy re-interpretation to the role although I am not in favour of total re-invention of the character to suit the mood of the moment every 7 or 8 years. I also think the real James Bond is the one defined by the movie franchise not the novels. James Bond is an icon in popular culture and very few people think of the books when they think of 007.

Actually, come to think of it, Christian Bale is a taffy anyway so probably not really Bond material

I think that Gerard Butler would make a good James Bond character he has all the attributes that are looked for. Is Scottish although he is a Glaswegian not from the stock broker belt of Edinburgh. Is not a bad actor too. Angelina Jolie seems to think he is a good actor too she picked him for the Lara Croft movie.

Watch Rocknrolla that he was in recently, I doubt Angelina Jolie would pick him for many more movies

Oh yes I have ! but the Film portrayal stretches things a tad too far for me, why not give him wings or a cloak like Superman, then he would be a COMIC (AL) character

But agree that Craig is the most realistic Bond, just needs a bit more of Eaton in his schooling

I have, many times. You made the statement, prove it, surely you can do that - or are you just another loudmouth idiot who believes that whatever you say should be accepted at face value?

My vote goes to Nawty. He has charm charisma and an inventive mind. Put the villains cat in the cool box Nawty. I know he's a colonial, but he does have style and a sense of humour.
The current Bond is too council sink estate to be believeable.

"As they say in the business you can only work with the cock you,ve got" The film is a Guy Ritchie movie they are all the same. Daniel Craig had the same issues in "Layer Cake" one stinker does not make you a bad actor.
Melv you need to lighten up and let the good time flow like in Rock-n-Rolla..

I didn't like Craig as Bond. I preferred Pierce Brosnan.

I was having this conversation with my gals last night.

What about Russell Crowe as James Bond. An Aussie, but what the hell.

Hugh Grant just doesn't have the edge to be Bond. Not bad to look at though.

Brosnan was so gay and boring, he was out of his league, he plays the bad guys better

I think Daniel Graig is great, the best ever

Roger Moore was kind of amusing though, he really made a new style of the movie
