The Sovjet Anthem was actually composed upon orders from Stalin something like half a century after Tchaikovsky's death, during WW2. The Sovjet republic had used the internationale, but Staln felt the republic needed its own anthem, not a song that was by then largely associated with the global communist movement, rather than the Sovjet state.
But I will admit to being rather found of much of the music and literature that came out of Russia/Sovjet over the past 200 years or so.......![]()
