    Downgraded Microsoft 365 Family

A couple of weeks ago I got a notification from Microsoft that my annual subscription to Microsoft 365 Family would increase from THB 2,899.00/year to THB 3,699.00/year. At the time I thought it was a healthy increase but just put it down to corporate greed that we all have to tolerate.

Today, I figured I don't use any of the 365 programs enough to justify the price increase and I'll just let 365 and the 1TB OneDrive account go, download one of the free Office type programs and go back to using portable storage to move files between my computers.

When I went to cancel my subscription, I found out that Microsoft hadn't really increased the price, they have "upgraded" my account so that I would have Copilot included with subscription. They allowed me to "downgrade" my account to Microsoft 365 Family Classic which is the same as the original account that I had and I will continue to pay THB 2,899 a year.

I really only have it because of the 1TB One Drive account each that my wife and I get out of it. It was much cheaper than continuing with Dropbox.

I use Excel daily. Its far superior to any of the "free" alternatives, but I'm a data hoarder, so I subscribe to the family and get 6 TB of OneDrive storage. 1 TB is used by Ms Tiz, another 1 TB used by my brother and I have 4 accounts that each use 1TB .

The Skype included also gives me free calls to my Mum's landline in Aus.

I use a 34TB NAS and the Office 2016 using my old company's key.

If they ever fuck it up, I'll just move to LibreOffice.

OK until the drive screws up, or your house is destroyed by fire, flood or some other act of Buddah.
How often do you take a backup offsite?

I have 2 NAS and back up one to the other, and also then backup the most important data to OneDrive and AWS

I beat that with the odd TB's. 4x6TB + 4x8TB in Raid10 giving a total of 27 which could been 54 without the mirroring.
Had a 6TB WD Red die a week ago crashing all volumes. Got a new drive shipped overnight and when added the NAS took another 20 hours to rebuild.
Nothing lost and thats why I mirror but don't do any backups of the NAS.
