Mark Zuckerberg has announced his company is ditching the name Facebook.
The rebranding is part of the global company's big plan to develop a virtual world but critics say its an attempt to shift focus from recent controversies.

First reason is asset protection. No matter what happens to FB, the worst that can happen to Meta is the value of it's FB stake drops to zero. So Mark stays rich.

Second reason, market cap. FB probably trades at a discount to Metas other, growth businesses because of course it is having the ass sued out of it, and some analysts even think it's traditional business model is under threat. So by spinning it off as a separate vehicle, the valuation of it's other stable of businesses gets enhanced, and Zuck gets richer.
