    Wheel of time

Seems a TV series (Amazon prime) will be out later this year based on the Wheel of time series of books.

'''The Wheel of Time''' Season 1: Release Date, Cast & Everything We Know - Thrillist

I started reading the series in 1990 (first book published), and the final volume was published in 2013. Twenty three damn years. I read the books dozens of times, and indeed, thinking of giving memory of light another go soon.

This was a monster series. Conceived and mostly written by Robert Jordan, who died before the series was completed. Based on his notes the series was finished by Brandon Sanderson.

Somehow, I just cannot see the TV series doing the books justice.

Oh my. I may have missed the last 2 or 3 books, but they were massive!

Then again I thought that about the Lord of the Rings prior to Peter Jackon's release.

^ yeah. The LoTR movies were pretty good. But that is three movies covering three (relatively small) books, versus a TV series covering 14 massive books.

Think of Dune, or Battlefield Earth. Shudder.

    They weren't that small.

And this is a series. One season per book. I am confident.

I sincerely hope you are right, but fear we will both be disappointed.

What Re said...I'm guessing the first couple of seasons will be interesting but just like the books, a bit of a slog to get through at times.
